Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • MERU added four hires in Q2 2026, expanding delivery capacity across three offices.
  • July 2026 promotions and Scott Webb's partnership election signal strong retention and bench depth.
  • Greg Esslinger's July 2026 COO hire strengthens operations as MERU scales growth.

What critics are saying

  • BioXcel's August 2026 Chapter 11 shows MERU remains tied to distressed outcomes and reputational risk.
  • If restructuring demand softens in 2027, MERU's fee model compresses faster than retainers.
  • A failed engagement at a marquee client can derail referrals and sponsor trust quickly.

What makes MERU unique

  • MERU combines turnaround, interim leadership, and Chapter 11 administration under one platform.
  • Its 150-plus subject matter experts give middle-market clients operator-heavy execution, not slideware.
  • Performance-based fees align MERU with outcomes, unlike hourly restructuring shops.
