Requirements
  • Must be a registered nurse with a current valid registered nurse license to practice in the state determined by the job location.
  • Must obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing within five years of hire.
  • Must have one year of charge nurse experience.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must meet the listed physical and sensory requirements, including standing, walking, lifting, transporting patients, and perceiving visual and auditory attributes.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the on-site administrative liaison in the absence of department heads or senior administration.
  • Provide broad supervision, guidance, and assistance in decision making and problem solving for all departments within the facility.
  • Facilitate competency in patient assessment, treatment range, growth and development knowledge, and age-appropriate communication.
  • Confer with the Administrator-On-Call on facility administrative concerns.
  • Serve as an operational resource for decision making and crises affecting patient care or plant operations.
  • Serve as Incident Commander for disaster events and support the Administrator-On-Call and senior administration in managing those events.
  • Facilitate intra- and interdepartmental problem solving and communication.
  • Act as a liaison with departments across the Network by interpreting policies and procedures, providing access to resources, and assisting with problem solving.
  • Coordinate obtaining and releasing equipment and supplies to other facilities.
  • Comply with the established chain of command for work-related problems.
  • Develop, evaluate, and adjust staffing based on patient care needs.
  • Communicate with unit staff to optimize interdepartmental staffing.
  • Facilitate real-time interventions for identified risk events, including event reports, patient Safety Hotline notification, staff interviews, and assessment tools.
  • Participate in internal alerts, including Rapid Response, Code Blue, disease-specific alerts, and Control Teams.
  • Maintain professional development through in-service and continuing education programs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Nursing equivalent preferred.
  • One year of charge nurse experience preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification preferred.
  • Bilingual ability preferred.
