About the job

Requirements
  • At least 7 years of automotive finance and insurance experience, including at least 3 years leading finance and insurance managers or serving as a corporate or regional finance and insurance leader.
  • A demonstrated record of increasing back-end gross and product penetration without increasing compliance risk or customer complaints.
  • Deep working knowledge of lender programs, reserve structures, and protection product economics, with relationships with lenders and product providers.
  • Command of the regulatory framework governing finance and insurance, including Truth in Lending, Equal Credit Opportunity, adverse action, and applicable state requirements.
  • Experience leading managers, including hiring, performance management, and building certification and training programs.
  • Hands-on experience designing or restructuring finance and insurance compensation plans.
  • Comfort working in a modern dealer management system and menu environment, with the analytical ability to work from deal-level data rather than summary reports.
Responsibilities
  • Own finance and insurance profitability, including product penetration, reserve, and per-unit back-end gross, and develop a plan to improve each measure.
  • Own the lender panel, buy rates, reserve structure, and program terms, and manage relationships that affect approval depth and funding speed.
  • Select, price, and manage the protection product lineup and its providers, balancing customer value against margin.
  • Define a consistent menu and presentation standard for use at every site.
  • Build and maintain the finance and insurance compliance framework and certification program, covering disclosure accuracy, adverse action handling, rate and product integrity, and documented training for everyone involved in a deal.
  • Own contract accuracy and time to funding, and reduce contracts in transit, kickbacks, and rewrites through process improvements.
  • Own finance and insurance reporting for management, including performance by site, manager, and product, and analyze the drivers of results.
  • Lead site Finance Managers, review deals in stores, coach managers, and improve execution of finance and insurance processes.
  • Be available during high-volume periods, weekend hours, and month-end close.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in electric vehicle retail or a direct-to-consumer sales model where much of the deal occurs before the customer arrives.
  • Experience in a used-vehicle-only operation, where product mix and lender fit carry greater weight.
  • AFIP certification or equivalent.
  • Experience establishing a finance and insurance function or standardizing one across independently operated sites.

About the company

Ever is an AI-native EV retailer based in San Francisco that operates a nationwide online and offline marketplace for used electric vehicles. It offers certified pre-owned EVs from more than 30 brands, allows customers to get instant trade-in offers by plate or VIN, and lets buyers trade in gas or electric cars, arrange financing online, and choose delivery or pickup. Vehicle listings include estimated monthly payments and battery/package details. The company also runs Eve, an AI assistant that helps with shopping, selling, and ownership questions. Ever earns revenue by buying and reselling used EVs and by providing financing and related services, blending a digital storefront with physical locations and logistics to reach customers nationwide. Its goal is to make EV ownership simpler, more transparent, and accessible to buyers across the United States.

What believers are saying

  • Reuters reported used EV sales rose 21% in January 2026, widening Ever's addressable market.
  • Ever said it served thousands across 40 states, showing early national traction.
  • Used EVs gained affordability as prices neared gas cars, expanding first-time buyer demand.

What critics are saying

  • Used EV demand softened after the Sept. 30, 2025 federal tax credit expired.
  • Tesla dominates used EV supply, pressuring Ever's margins through nonstop price competition.
  • Ever's existential risk: EV retail stays niche, and inventory turns slow before burn shrinks runway.

What makes Ever unique

  • Ever's Feb. 12, 2026 $31M Series A funded a proprietary AI-native operating system.
  • Ever focuses only on EVs, unlike broad auto retailers chasing gas and electric inventory.
  • Ever runs omnichannel SF and Costa Mesa showrooms, plus AI assistant Eve for shopping.

Eclipse leads $31M Series A for Ever, an AI-native EV marketplace

Ever, a startup positioning itself as the first AI-native, full-stack marketplace for electric vehicles, has raised $31 million in a Series A round led by Eclipse. Ibex Investors, Lifeline Ventures and JIMCO, the investment arm of Saudi Arabia's Jameel family, co-invested. The company operates both an online marketplace and physical locations for buying and selling used EVs. Ever's platform uses an AI-powered orchestration system that handles hundreds of workflows behind each transaction, from appraisals to titling. CEO Lasse-Mathias Nyberg claims this approach makes the sales team two to three times more productive than traditional retailers. Founded in 2022, Ever currently focuses exclusively on electric vehicles, though it hasn't ruled out expanding to combustion vehicles. Eclipse partner Jiten Behl, who spent eight years at Rivian, led the investment.
