Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in clinical or medical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution, or an associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology and a bachelor's degree in a chemical or biological science.
  • Must obtain Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology within one year of hire.
  • Must meet mandatory hospital education and health surveillance requirements.
  • Must demonstrate the technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions.
Responsibilities
  • Provide primary support to the James Stat Laboratory and secondary support to ancillary James laboratory locations as needed.
  • Perform routine automated and manual laboratory procedures.
  • Verify and report test requests and results.
  • Handle phone inquiries regarding patient results, specimen collection, and testing frequency.
  • Use the laboratory computer system to review reports and call critical values to healthcare professionals.
  • Perform and document quality control, quality assurance, and preventative maintenance on instrumentation.
  • Assist with bone marrow procedures.
  • Provide laboratory services involving chemistry, immunochemistry, hematology, urinalysis, and coagulation.
  • Work under the direction of the lab manager and lead technologists.
