About the role
As a member of Quality Engineering at Point you will drive the maintainability, reliability, performance and security of the applications our customers and employees use on a daily basis. As one of Point’s first SDET hires, you will be a key technical leader responsible for establishing the best practices and processes of our software automation initiatives, mentoring manual QA engineers and strengthening our commitment to quality.

Your responsibilities
- Build a foundation for end-to-end test automation (API and UI).
- Guide engineering teams to build, execute and maintain our automation test suite.
- Identify non-functional requirements to improve the testability of our product.
- Build scripts, tooling, and automation to improve quality of life for developers and QA.
- Implement systems to make quality health metrics (testability, test health, test coverage, etc) visible throughout the development lifecycle.
- Connect with customers to understand real-life usage, build test cases.
- Collaborate with developers, PM, and UX to ensure features are delivered to meet business and quality requirements.
About you
- Extensive experience in quality engineering (typically 8+ years).
- Experience in writing testing frameworks.
- Experience with automation (UI and Backend).
- Familiar with industry quality & usability practices.
- Formal training (e.g., CS degree) is helpful but not required.
- Highly proficient in Javascript (Ruby or other programming languages are helpful but not required).
- Proficient in writing functional automation (UI/API).
- Experience with developer tools like git, build tools, scripting, and IDEs.
- Good grasp of relational databases and SQL.
- Experience with Cypress, Playwright and Postman is a strong plus.
- Effectively communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner and ability to coordinate cross-team efforts.
- Systematic, structured approach to test planning and building test frameworks.
- Ability to learn quickly and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
- Ability to mentor and coach junior engineers.

Fully paid parental leave
Point will true-up wages from state-applicable PFL earnings so that the employee’s total gross pay will be equivalent to 100% of their regular base pay, as well as two weeks of fully paid leave to be available after exhaustion of state PFL.
For employees in states without Paid Family Leave, Point will provide up to 8 weeks of paid parental leave.
In addition, all employees will receive 4 weeks of fully paid transition time. For four weeks after returning from parental leave, and following the use of all other paid leave benefits, you may work part-time, meaning two or three days per week, and receive 100% of regular base pay.

The expected base salary range for Technical roles (e.g. Engineering, Product, Design) at this level within Point is $124,800 to $234,000 per year. This does not include any other potential components of the compensation package, including equity, benefits, and perks outlined above. At the launch of each position we benchmark compensation to the appropriate role and level utilizing competitive compensation data from various data sources as references. At the offer stage we use the signal we received from our interviews coupled with your experience, location, and other job-related factors to determine final compensation.
