Requirements
  • A Master’s degree in social work or an equivalent degree in a recognized mental health field is required.
  • Texas licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist is required.
  • Must obtain and maintain approved CPR certification and Management of Assaultive Behavior training, including restraint and seclusion policies, before assuming patient care responsibility.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric and addictive disease diagnoses and treatment is required.
  • Knowledge of acute psychological disorders and advanced principles of abnormal psychology as applied to adults is required.
  • Knowledge of follow-up resource services and family group therapy skills is required.
  • Demonstrated application of Cognitive Behavioral Theory and methodology is required.
  • Basic personal computer skills using Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel are required.
  • Ability to type at least 30 words per minute is required.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality under HIPAA standards is required.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
  • Ability to work with diverse people and people in crisis or resistant to the organization is required.
  • Ability to apply time-management practices, prioritize tasks, and meet mandated policies and deadlines is required.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and complete work activities on time is required.
  • Ability to work productively with department heads, personnel, outside professionals, partners, and organizations is required.

Responsibilities
  • Provide psychotherapeutic services to patients and their families as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Perform comprehensive psychosocial assessments covering mental health, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, domestic violence, and medical needs, and conduct follow-up evaluations as appropriate.
  • Provide daily group therapy sessions and individual therapy sessions as needed.
  • Document client records according to established protocols and submit reports as needed.
  • Complete master treatment plans as required.
  • Maintain client records and mandated agency forms in accordance with agency policy and state confidentiality and HIPAA laws.
  • Develop and implement therapeutic treatment plans with the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Develop and coordinate individualized patient discharge plans using treatment-team input and written chart information to determine aftercare needs.
  • Attend regular treatment-team meetings and discuss patient progress, charts, case-management needs, and applicable state or local agency legal requirements.
  • Plan and prepare required patient activities with the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive administrative and client information.
  • Perform other related duties as requested.
