Requirements
  • A field grade officer at the rank of Major, Lieutenant Commander, equivalent grade, or higher, or a civilian graduate of Intermediate Level School, Staff Academy Workshop, Tactical Level School, or an equivalent professional military education program.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate graduate-level discussions and mentor adult learners.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a distributed learning environment.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • An active Secret clearance with a Tier 3 Investigation is required.
  • Ability to maintain eligibility for continued access to government facilities and systems.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with Regional Chief Instructors to deliver instruction in support of the Command and Staff College Distance Education Program curriculum.
  • Facilitate graduate-level seminar discussions using Socratic teaching methods and adult learning principles.
  • Lead seminar cohorts consisting of approximately 12–16 students.
  • Mentor students and provide academic and professional guidance throughout the program.
  • Grade seminar participation, written assignments, research papers, and other course requirements in accordance with program standards.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student development and learning objectives.
  • Foster a professional learning environment that promotes critical thinking, analysis, and intellectual discourse.
  • Maintain accurate grading records, course documentation, and student performance data.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, training events, and professional development activities as required.
  • Successfully complete all required College of Distance Education and Training faculty development and certification requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Marine Corps University academic standards and contractual requirements.

  • Joint Qualified Officer designation or joint duty experience.
