Herself Health provides primary care tailored for women aged 65 and older. It accepts traditional Medicare, Medicare Supplements, and most Medicare Advantage plans to ensure access. The practice starts with a comprehensive welcome visit where a medical assistant and doctor review health history, perform exams, and set personal health goals, followed by in-house labs for quick screenings. Ongoing preventive care is delivered through unrushed, personalized visits with clinicians trained in women’s health for seniors. Revenue comes from insurance reimbursements, while the model emphasizes building trust by inviting prospective patients to meet the clinicians in person. The goal is to improve quality of life by aligning life goals with health goals and delivering proactive, patient-centered care that addresses the unique needs of senior women.

What believers are saying

  • Herself Health now operates five clinics, up from one clinic in 2023.
  • The January 2026 membership program opens a new cash-pay revenue stream.
  • Midi collaboration and on-site mammography deepen retention across midlife and senior patients.

What critics are saying

  • Quest Diagnostics billing dependence concentrates operational risk after the May 2026 lab-services deal.
  • Membership expansion to women 50-64 dilutes the original 65+ brand by 2027.
  • If Twin Cities growth stalls, Herself Health remains a five-clinic regional business.

What makes Herself Health unique

  • Herself Health targets women 65+, a narrowly defined Medicare primary-care niche.
  • Five Twin Cities clinics and 24/7 call support create local access depth.
  • The Bluestone ACO partnership ties care delivery to Medicare value-based reimbursement.

Herself Health, Providing Primary Care To Women 65 And Over, Raises $26M

Kristen Helton is no stranger to the healthcare needs of patients. After co-founding biosensor company Profusa, she went on to work at Amazon, where she helped found and lead the company’s Amazon Care division in 2019.During the next three years, there was a focus on creating a positive experience for patients. And though the company deployed a feedback loop in order to make experiences even better, Helton found that patients would still say they weren’t satisfied. When Amazon Care shut down in 2022, Helton decided to find a way to address that dissatisfaction, focusing on a demographic where she felt care was lacking: care for women aged 65 and older. She founded Herself Health last year, touting it as “the first healthcare company” built just for this population of patients.“Women are not feeling heard, and they’re not well served,” Helton told TechCrunch. “It takes a long time to get an appointment with their doctor, and women are feeling rushed to tell them everything in 10 minutes. As a result, they don’t feel well cared for and pushed to the next step without their doctors having the time to really understand what their needs are. And, these women have very unique issues.”Even though healthcare is moving toward personalization, senior care is not immune to gender disparities
