  • Ten (10) years’ minimum experience in GIS Technology including project management and business analysis.
  • Five (5) years minimum experience in Python development for geospatial analysis, automation, and platform integration.
  • Five (5) years minimum experience writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions. Ability to optimize queries for performance and troubleshoot SQL-related issues.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Expert-level proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise/Portal, and related Esri tools.
  • Demonstrate an aptitude for learning new software and mapping tools quickly.
  • Envision, design, and deliver GIS-centric solutions to Hilcorp businesses which deliver value in terms of automation, efficiency or improved IT controls.
  • Proficiency in the use and application of the following software: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Required: Experience in GIS user training and user request work, creating high-quality printed maps using ArcGIS Pro, JavaScript and C#.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year university or college with a degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Geoscience, or a related field, or 15 years’ experience in the GIS field.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain GIS datasets, services, and applications to support upstream oil and gas workflows.
  • Perform advanced spatial analysis and create high-quality maps using ArcGIS Pro to support drilling, completions, production, regulatory, land management and all other teams.
  • Administer and manage ArcGIS Enterprise Portal and Server, ensuring data security, user permissions, and system reliability.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain web maps and applications, with an emphasis on Experience Builder for upcoming upgrades.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries to manage, extract, and integrate spatial and tabular data from SQL Server databases, including SDE.
  • Configure and manage feature services and map services for efficient data sharing within the organization.
  • Automate repetitive geoprocessing tasks using Python / ArcPy where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with geologists, engineers, landmen, and operators to understand business needs and deliver effective GIS solutions.
  • Support and create custom ArcGIS Pro add-ins using the ArcGIS Pro SDK for .NET.
  • Support the Land Department with lease, ownership, ROW, and easement mapping, ensuring data accuracy and availability.
  • Provide GIS support for acquisitions and divestitures, including data analysis, integration, and presentation for due diligence and onboarding.
  • Utilize and maintain the PODS data model for pipeline data management, ensuring data integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform data conversion and integration from various sources (e.g., shapefiles, CAD, spreadsheets) into enterprise geodatabases.
  • Integrate spatial data with business intelligence tools to deliver actionable insights for leadership.
  • Document workflows, data models, and application configurations for internal knowledge sharing and continuity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve GIS data, application, and server issues in a timely manner.
  • Stay current with emerging Esri technologies, SQL Server enhancements, PODS standards, and oil and gas GIS trends to proactively recommend improvements.
  • Participate in planning and execution of system upgrades, patches, and migrations.
  • Develop user training materials and provide training sessions to empower business users with GIS tools.
  • Support field data collection workflows using mobile GIS applications when needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Five (5) years minimum experience supporting upstream oil and gas operations.
  • Working knowledge of the PODS data model and pipeline data management best practices
  • Five (5) years minimum experience in C# development for ArcGIS Pro SDK for .NET in Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Proficiency in remote sensing techniques and the ability to process and analyze satellite and aerial imagery.
  • Certification in GIS Technologies
