Chuck E. Cheese is expanding its Adventure World indoor playground concept to over 20 US locations in 2026 and 2027. The multilevel play destination spans 12,000 to 18,000 square feet or more, featuring climbing structures, slides, ball pits and themed areas based on Chuck E. Cheese characters. Six locations will open in 2026, including West Fargo, North Dakota; Chandler, Arizona; Rochester, New York; Houston; Plano, Texas; and Las Vegas. Seven additional sites are planned for 2027 across Michigan, California, Illinois, Colorado, Missouri and Los Angeles. Three international locations will also launch in Jalisco, Mexico. The first Adventure World opened in Arlington, Texas, in November 2025. The venues offer all-day admission at a single price per child, with food service and birthday party packages starting at $99.99 for six children.
Chuck E. Cheese brand makes International debut. Chuck E. Cheese has announced an agreement with Grupo Dicrejart to introduce their new concept in Jalisco, Mexico. "Working with an experienced operator like Grupo Dicrejart gives us a strong opportunity to introduce Adventure World to the Mexican audience and introduce the concept, for the first time, outside the United States," said Mario Centola, COO of Chuck E. Cheese International. "We are excited to bring a new family experience to Jalisco while the traditions families know and trust from the world of Chuck E. Cheese." Unlike traditional arcade-based Chuck E. Cheese locations, Adventure World "puts more emphasis on physical activity and imaginative play." The venue is expected to open in October.
Chuck E. Cheese shuts down longtime Toledo arcade after lease expires. September 6, 2026 The Chuck E. Cheese restaurant on Airport Highway in Toledo, Ohio, has closed its doors after more than three decades, leaving local families mourning the loss of a beloved community staple and raising questions about what comes next for classic American entertainment venues. After serving generations of families and children, the Chuck E. Cheese location at 5455 Airport Highway in the Swan Creek Plaza closed for good after its final day of service on a recent Monday. The company attributed the decision to an expiring lease and confirmed that its other Toledo restaurant on Monroe Street would remain open. No replacement tenant for the Airport Highway building has been announced. For many in Toledo, this particular Chuck E. Cheese was more than just a pizza place, it was a destination for birthday parties, family gatherings, and the kind of old-fashioned arcade fun that is increasingly hard to find. Destiny Govan, a local mother, described what the closure means for her young daughter: "This is like her favorite spot to play," she told WTOL. "This is where she came out of her shell." Govan recalled the nostalgia of the animatronic shows and games, saying, "Just the nostalgia of it, seeing them move and singing, and she's never seen anything like that before." The Airport Highway restaurant first opened in 1993 and featured more than 50 games alongside party rooms capable of hosting hundreds of guests, according to the company website. Animatronic entertainment has been a core part of Chuck E. Cheese's brand since its beginnings in San Jose, California, in 1977. The company's famous Munch's Make Believe Band stage debuted in 1990, and both Toledo locations opened three years later, marking the city as an early adopter of the chain's signature family experience. Kristen Zippe, another longtime customer and mother, shared how both her children celebrated birthdays at the restaurant this year, with her daughter Kylie's party held there as recently as August 18. "We're very sad because this is our home, Chuck E.," Zippe said, highlighting the deep ties many locals felt to the now-shuttered venue. Chuck E. Cheese points to lease, promises continued presence in Toledo. The company cited the expiring lease as the reason for closing the Airport Highway location, a move that will leave a gap in the Swan Creek Plaza shopping center. Despite the closure, a statement from Chuck E. Cheese said that Toledo remains an important market and that it will continue seeking promising locations for its "different experiences." The Monroe Street restaurant, which also opened in 1993, will remain in operation, giving families at least one remaining option in the city for the time being. No direct quote from a company representative was included in the reporting by The Sun, and the exact calendar date of the last day of service was not specified. It is also not yet clear who, if anyone, will take over the Airport Highway space or how soon Chuck E. Cheese might open another location in the area. The end of an era for American arcade nostalgia. The closure of a long-running Chuck E. Cheese is about more than just a business decision or a changing lease. For many families, it represents the fading of a unique kind of American entertainment, one built around affordable fun, safe spaces for children, and hands-on games that don't require a smartphone or a streaming subscription. The classic Chuck E. Cheese formula, with its animatronic band and arcade games, has been a fixture in American life for nearly half a century. As more traditional entertainment venues shut down, often citing rising costs or changing consumer habits, communities across the country are left with fewer places where families can gather for simple, wholesome fun. The loss is felt most by parents and children who cherished these spaces as reliable sites for celebration, growth, and shared memories. When once-vibrant family institutions close, it's a reminder that the best parts of American community life aren't guaranteed, they depend on strong local economies, sensible business conditions, and respect for the traditions that bring people together.
South Toledo Chuck E. Cheese location known for last original animatronic band closes. 09/01/2026 Toledo's Chuck E. Cheese location on Airport Highway closed yesterday after being open since 1993. The south Toledo location was the last regular Chuck E. Cheese location remaining that featured the restaurant chain's original animatronic band, Munch's Make Believe Band. The company said the location was closing because its lease was expiring. Meanwhile, Chuck E. Cheese said Toledo's Monroe Street location will stay open.
