  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
  • Eligibility for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

Responsibilities
  • Examine patients and take their histories, and order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures.
  • Deliver comprehensive primary healthcare services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness.
  • Be accountable for the appropriate workload and practice.
  • Support the Dalhousie Family Medicine Residency Program.
  • Participate in an urgent-care rotation to improve access to care.
  • Work with other providers to provide after-hours access and emergency coverage when required.
  • Provide continuity of patient care with healthcare providers within the practice and community.
  • Provide care and coordinate community-based, secondary-level, and tertiary-level healthcare.
  • Build the practice to capacity within the first two years.
  • Operate within the bylaws, rules, and regulations of the Nova Scotia Health Authority.
  • Collaborate with practice team members to address the community’s health needs.
  • Participate in quality-improvement and evaluation activities.
  • Use an electronic medical record and record all relevant patient details in a provincially approved system accessible to collaborating team members.
