Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, relevant experience, certification, or license.
  • At least one year of experience is preferred.
  • A valid State of Florida Licensed Practical Nurse license is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Ability to work during school hours.
  • Availability to participate in school-related events and team conferences, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Proficiency using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Administer nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse while ensuring patients' health, comfort, and safety.
  • Collect patient assessment data and notify the appropriate nurse of actual or potential problems and needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Record patient information concisely, accurately, and completely.
  • Administer medications and perform treatments and procedures for assigned patients.
  • Assist with preparing patient materials or correspondence used by registered nurses, advanced registered nurse practitioners, or medical doctors to communicate with organizations inside or outside the University.
  • Assist with preoperative and postoperative health teaching for patients and families.
  • Share responsibility for planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care plans.
  • Participate in team conferences and share knowledge, information, and ideas with team members.
  • Perform more complex nursing activities as competence increases.
  • Communicate frequently with the team leader regarding patients' physical and mental conditions.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
  • Provide first aid, follow-up assessments, and direct practical nursing care to students according to established clinic protocols.
  • Respond to students' health emergencies and perform care under standing orders within the confines of Florida Statutes for Licensed Practical Nurses.
  • Manage and update student health records and emergency information and input necessary documents into appropriate databases.
  • Administer medications and treatments and coordinate care plans for students with medical needs, documenting in clinic databases as necessary.
  • Ensure vaccination compliance and communicate appropriately with parents or guardians regarding required health matters.
  • Maintain clinic inventory, assist with medical supply preparation and orders, discard expired supplies, and adhere to infection-control standards.
  • Coordinate mandated health screenings and inform caregivers of the results.
  • Collaborate with school staff and team leaders to promote health, safety, and effective care delivery.
  • Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment and report equipment or facility issues to the appropriate department.
  • Participate in school events and team conferences, including events scheduled after school or on weekends.
  • Assist with preparing medical supplies, documentation, and communications in collaboration with student registered nurses, advanced practice registered nurses, or medical doctors.
  • Perform other school-health duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
