Environmental, Health, Safety & Transportation Compliance Specialist
Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking an Environmental, Health, Safety & Transporation Compliance Specialist for our Somerville, MA team.
This highly organizedindividual will be responsible forproviding direction and oversight for the day-to-day safety and compliance of our operations. The selected candidate will interact directly with site and field personnel to ensure that our safety, environmental, and transportation related activities are carried out in strict compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.

This position reports to our New England Regional EHST Manager. This role offers a hybrid schedule and is based at our Somerville, MA location.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety and transportation programs, including permit required programs, for a largely dispersed workforce.
- Coordinate and lead environmental, health and safety initiatives as identified through risk prioritization, including human and organizational performance and incident investigations
- Lead proactive safety initiatives, including periodic assessments, inspections, and reviews including heat map and risk reduction plans.
- Lead incident investigation and causal analysis for near miss, injury, and vehicle accidents, utilizing HOP principles.
- Oversee the behavioral observation program to ensure information gathered is leveraged and employees stay engaged.
- Track CAPA’s from incidents, observations, and internal reviews/audits to ensure progress.
- Update specific policies and procedures, including learnings from investigations.
- Manage incident reporting and injury systems and processes.
- Participate in corporate and self-audits of the facility and operational EHS programs.
- Assist in conducting industrial hygiene assessments, including exposure assessments for consolidations and emergency responses.
- Conduct permit required renewals, inspections and required reports.
- Update required plans, including but not limited to the emergency response and contingency plans.
- Develop emergency response plans and lead drills, such as fire drills, chemical spill response or natural disaster preparedness.
- Ensure all transportation and logistics activities are conducted safely and comply with state and federal regulations.
- Work with Corporate Compliance and Operations to ensure transportation permits for vehicle fleet are current and permit books are maintained.
- Assist with utilization and maintenance of compliance data systems (i.e., Intelex, SharePoint, Lytx, Dossier and other safety and industrial hygiene databases).
- Develop, implement and monitor internal Environmental, Health, Safety and Transportation programs and procedures with Corporate Compliance Department assistance.
- Coordinate and conduct internal training including RCRA, CAA, CWA, DOT, OSHA, and FMCSA and work with the Training Department to ensure proper documentation.
- Manage local medical surveillance program requirements and assist regional managers with the implementation of the drug and alcohol policy.
Basic Requirements:
- Excellent communication, collaboration and influencing abilities.
- Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety or related field or 5-7 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- Working knowledge of environmental regulations, OSHA standards and transportation safety regulations.
- Experience conducting training.
- Ability to effectively interact with state and federal regulatory inspectors.
- Ability to work in diverse environments, including office settings and on-site inspections.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship.
- Must have a reliable form of transportation.
Preferred Requirements:
- Knowledge of Intelex or other health and safety management systems.
- CSP, ASP, or other similar certificate.
- Prior relevant industry experience.
- Active HAZWOPER 24 or 40 hour certification.
