Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • A Registered Nurse license is required.
  • An American Heart Association Basic Life Support certificate is required.
  • Three to five years of related clinical medical-surgical work experience is required.
  • Strong analytical skills in quality and data analysis are required.
  • Experience with an interdisciplinary health care approach is required.
  • Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access, is required.
  • The employee must be able to provide care to young adults, middle-aged adults, and elderly patients.
  • The employee must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently, stand for periods of time, and move throughout the hospital campus.
  • All staff must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Initiate communication with patients after a positive finding and guide them through the health care system.
  • Assist patients in connecting with community and social support services.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, primary care providers, surgeons, medical oncologists or medical specialists, and other providers.
  • Facilitate interaction and communication with health care staff and providers.
  • Provide health education to individuals and groups.
  • Develop and maintain a patient learning library containing language-specific materials.
  • Identify personnel involved in patients' care and develop relationships with physicians, nurses, radiology, social services, radiation oncology, hematology/oncology, and other departments.
  • Assist or direct patients with questions and concerns regarding payment of services.
  • Arrange patient transportation when needed.
  • Build relationships with other patient navigators.
  • Track interventions and outcomes.
  • Participate in medication reconciliation, particularly during transitions of care.
  • Communicate with radiology, surgery, and other department personnel.
  • Provide education to patients and staff about diagnoses and treatment modalities.
Desired Qualifications
  • OCN, Patient Navigator, Nurse Navigator, or equivalent certification is preferred.

Beth Israel Lahey Health rolls out Heidi's AI scribing to all physicians after 90% report better patient presence

Beth Israel Lahey Health is rolling out Heidi's ambient AI scribing tool to all its physicians following a successful trial across its facilities. The health system, which serves over 6,000 providers across 14 hospitals and 175 primary care practices, prioritises addressing physician burnout, with nearly half of US physicians reporting burnout. During a six-month trial offering Heidi to 1,000 providers, the majority adopted the technology. Survey results showed 89% were satisfied with note quality, 90% felt more present with patients, 74% reduced after-hours work time, and 82% experienced reduced cognitive load during visits. The implementation demonstrates how ambient AI can deliver immediate relief to physicians whilst benefiting patients and the healthcare system. Heidi supports over 2 million consultations weekly globally and has raised $96.6 million from investors including Point72 Private Investments and Blackbird.
