Requirements
  • At least 10 years of experience in commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, mechanical contracting, project development, energy services, controls, facility infrastructure, technical sales support, or related industries.
  • Strong customer-facing communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience supporting project development, capital planning, engineering consulting, technical sales support, energy services, and financial justifications for capital improvement projects.
  • Working knowledge of commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, controls, facility operations, and energy savings principles.
  • Ability to translate technical information into practical business value for customers and internal teams.
  • Strong spreadsheet, financial modeling, report writing, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-selling environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple opportunities, priorities, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel overnight up to 25%.
Responsibilities
  • Work with project sales representatives, maintenance sales representatives, general managers, and other sales team members to identify, develop, and support hybrid energy savings projects involving heating, ventilation, and air conditioning upgrades, controls modernization, infrastructure improvements, utility incentives, operational savings, and lifecycle cost reduction.
  • Conduct customer discovery meetings, site assessments, facility evaluations, and strategic planning discussions, and help convert customer facility challenges into funded projects.
  • Serve as a technical and financial resource during customer presentations, sales strategy sessions, and executive-level project discussions.
  • Serve as a primary Energy and Sustainability Services resource for large capital replacement and infrastructure improvement opportunities using lifecycle cost analysis, technical review, energy savings estimates, and utility incentive review.
  • Help sales teams identify, prioritize, and communicate long-term facility capital needs.
  • Develop business cases connecting equipment replacement, building performance, reduced operating cost, risk reduction, and customer decision-making.
  • Create, maintain, and improve Energy and Sustainability Services tools, templates, and models to make project development consistent and repeatable.
  • Focus Energy and Sustainability Services growth on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning controls and building automation system modernization by partnering with controls, service, operations, and project sales teams to identify upgrades and controls optimization opportunities.
  • Incorporate controls strategies into energy audits, capital expenditure planning, hybrid energy savings projects, and customer return-on-investment discussions.
  • Help customers understand the energy, operational, comfort, reliability, and financial benefits of modernized controls and optimized building automation systems.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to customers, sales representatives, general managers, operations leaders, and company leadership during customer meetings, facility assessments, proposal reviews, project strategy discussions, and executive-level presentations.
  • Support a collaborative team-selling environment across sales, operations, controls, service, and construction teams and assist sales teams with strategies for large, complex, and financially driven opportunities.
  • Act as the primary liaison between Energy and Sustainability Services, project sales teams, maintenance sales teams, general managers, and executive leadership to align resources with company growth objectives.
  • Lead or oversee facility assessments, energy evaluations, savings analyses, utility reviews, incentive research, and financial modeling.
  • Review calculations, assumptions, and reports developed by Energy and Sustainability Services staff, vendors, interns, or supporting partners.
  • Ensure recommendations are technically sound, financially practical, and aligned with customer objectives.
  • Translate complex technical information into practical business recommendations for customers and internal teams.
  • Maintain oversight of existing Measurement and Verification obligations and long-term energy performance commitments.
  • Assist with future performance-contract opportunities when appropriate.
  • Lead and develop the Energy and Sustainability Services Team as a scalable sales-support and project-development resource by managing and mentoring energy engineers, interns, and analysts.
  • Establish consistent processes, reporting standards, calculation methodologies, proposal support tools, and project-development templates.
  • Promote collaboration between Energy and Sustainability Services, sales teams, operations, controls, and executive leadership.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, energy management, business, or a related technical discipline.
  • Professional Engineer license, Certified Energy Manager certification, or Master of Business Administration.
  • Experience with performance contracting, Measurement and Verification, utility incentives, energy services agreements, HVAC controls, building automation system modernization, and controls optimization.
