Requirements
  • A master's degree in Religion, Theology, Divinity, or appropriate area studies, or a master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in those fields.
  • Academic knowledge of religious history and culture, languages, sacred texts, philosophy, and related areas.
  • Ability to work successfully in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to analyze information and problems, interpret data, establish facts, identify issues, draw valid conclusions, and develop recommendations.
  • Ability to communicate professionally, diplomatically, empathetically, and tactfully.
  • Ability to make well-reasoned and timely decisions based on objective review and analysis.
  • Ability to respond promptly and courteously to student and faculty questions, including assisting students with limited computer skills.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and deliver instruction in didactic, laboratory, and classroom settings to promote student success.
  • Support and promote the college and departmental missions through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and timely service.
  • Collaborate with the Director, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and develop curriculum that cultivates mastery of course content.
  • Demonstrate technological literacy and innovation in the delivery of instruction.
  • Collaborate as part of an academic team.
  • Assist with implementing college policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with the college's philosophy, mission, strategic initiatives, and procedures.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and collegewide committees as needed.
  • Provide students with frequent, timely assessment and clear feedback regarding academic performance.
  • Document student progress and maintain records, including attendance, grading, and student learning outcomes.
  • Develop methods to fairly and accurately assess student progress toward stated learning outcomes and objectives.
  • Maintain office hours proportionate to the instructional assignment.
  • Protect the privacy and security of student records and other sensitive information in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Comply with published college rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws governing public employees, including document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Provide courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
