Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required.
  • A valid Indiana teaching license is required, or the ability to obtain one within the specified period.
  • Experience supporting diverse learners is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, standards-aligned instruction to incarcerated adult learners.
  • Design and deliver lessons that promote active learning.
  • Begin and end classes on time according to facility and Ivy Tech schedules.
  • Present clear explanations and check for student understanding throughout instruction.
  • Integrate technology and approved resources when available.
  • Support diverse learning needs, including individualized education programs, Section 504 accommodations, and English language learners.
  • Encourage student engagement and participation.
  • Support distance-learning and supplemental platforms.
  • Assess student learning using formal and informal tools.
  • Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Administer TABE, GED Ready, and other assessments.
  • Maintain accurate student grades, attendance, records, documentation, and student files.
  • Ensure accurate entry into InTERS/Delta and submit completion documentation promptly.
  • Support FERPA, security, compliance, continuous quality improvement processes, and instructional audits.
  • Care for classroom materials and technology.
  • Collaborate with the Site Manager and instructional team.
  • Participate in meetings, training, coaching, and professional development.
  • Support student onboarding, placement, and orientation.
  • Assist with classroom and testing preparation.
  • Support graduations, recognition events, and other program events.
  • Build positive rapport while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Model professional and prosocial behaviors and promote a safe, inclusive classroom culture.
  • Provide academic advising and re-entry guidance.
  • Uphold Ivy Tech and IDOC expectations and ethics, maintain cooperative working relationships, and protect confidentiality.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in adult education or corrections is preferred.
  • Experience with adult basic education, career and technical education, special education, or alternative education is preferred.
