Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in education.
  • Current Special Education Teaching Certificate issued by the state education agency where the campus operates.
  • Must be highly qualified in the subject area.
  • Must pass a criminal history background check.
  • Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds on occasion.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods and perform talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping, and prolonged concentration.
  • Must complete local and in-state travel, including occasional travel between campuses.
Responsibilities
  • Meet and instruct assigned students at designated locations and specific times.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the provided location's physical limitations and the needs and capabilities of the individuals involved.
  • Implement the district's educational philosophy and instructional goals and objectives through instruction and action.
  • Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required.
  • Recognize and evaluate students' learning and other disabilities regularly and seek district specialist assistance or referrals as required.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when reasonably required or requested.
  • Perform other necessary duties as assigned.
