Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to pass a physical evaluation, including lifting 125 pounds.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must be able to communicate and understand written and conversational English.
  • Valid and current Paramedic License.
  • Valid and current Florida Driver’s License.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
  • Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) certification.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct a careful examination of the patient for signs and symptoms of illness or injury and assist other medical personnel as necessary.
  • Administer prompt and efficient basic life support care within the limits of the license or certification and in accordance with approved protocols prior to and during transport.
  • Handle patients carefully to and from the ambulance.
  • Transport patients safely and efficiently in the ambulance to the medical facility.
  • Transfer patients and patient care information safely and efficiently to receiving personnel at the destination.
  • Document all aspects of patient condition and treatment on emergency medical services run reports, obtain and record required non-medical patient information, and complete other patient documentation and forms.
  • Conduct regular unit inventory and equipment testing to ensure assigned equipment is present, clean, and in proper working order.
  • After transport, complete assigned duties to return the ambulance and equipment to service.
  • Maintain full knowledge of the ambulance’s basic life support equipment and its proper use.
  • Document and report needed electronic or mechanical repairs to the proper maintenance departments, supervisors, and other ambulance personnel as required.
  • Operate and drive the ambulance safely and efficiently in emergency and non-emergency settings while following company driving guidelines.
