  • Ability to apply basic algebra, geometry, shop mathematics, tables, and charts to production machine-shop problems is required.
  • Knowledge of MAPICS manufacturing software, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft PowerPoint is required.
  • A manufacturing background and experience in a union environment are required.
  • A background in lean manufacturing is required.
  • Ability to exercise supervisory responsibilities and use problem-solving skills is required.
  • Access and eligibility must comply with United States International Traffic in Arms Regulations and Export Administration Regulations requirements for controlled facilities and technical data.
  • Applicants must provide information for export-control licensing and country-of-chargeability assessment if required.
  • Applicants are subject to screening against the United States Consolidated Screening List.
Responsibilities
  • Direct all work in assigned departments according to specifications established by the engineering division.
  • Use production schedules and daily status reports to control production and prevent delinquencies.
  • Approve and promptly apply time standards established by Manufacturing Engineering and ensure they are properly administered and used.
  • Track method changes in the department and report them to Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Use variance reports from Data Processing to take corrective action and keep costs within budget.
  • Resolve material shortages, machine breakdowns, and tooling breakdowns that could affect schedules or quality, escalating to the Superintendent when necessary.
  • Coordinate assistance from Tooling and Engineering, Production Control, Manufacturing Engineering, and other departments.
  • Train and assist workers in maintaining product quality, reducing scrap, sustaining productivity, maintaining workflow, controlling costs, working safely, and maintaining housekeeping.
  • Carry out special projects within the department.
  • Consult Human Resources regarding grievances.
  • Take full responsibility for the quality of parts leaving the department and the accuracy of production counts, including when duties are delegated.
  • Maintain records prescribed by the Superintendent and other authorized personnel.
  • Keep the Superintendent informed verbally and provide reports upon request.
  • Provide supervisory direction to assigned personnel.
  • Select personnel and recommend hiring, status changes, promotions, demotions, compensation, and terminations.
  • Prepare performance reviews and administer employee discipline.
  • Conduct regular department inspections for cleanliness and safety.
  • Arrange for proper maintenance, operation, and orderliness of the work area, machinery, equipment, facilities, and materials in process.
  • Observe employee qualifications for selection as Foreman.
  • Assist in administering labor-agreement and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Follow company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area while adhering to safety standards and quality practices.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree is highly desirable.
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is preferred.

Senior plc awarded multi year Airbus contract for aerospace components. Senior plc (LON:SNR), an international manufacturer of high technology components and systems, has announced today that it has been awarded a multi-year contract by Airbus for the design, qualification and manufacture of various highly engineered Aerospace Standard parts for fluid conveyance applications. The initial production will supply components for both dual and single aisle commercial aircraft platforms, with significant further potential in the spares and repairs markets. Delivery will begin in Q1 2026, from Senior's facilities in Europe. This contract highlights Senior's expertise in designing and producing complex, highly engineered, aerospace components, as well as its ability to secure major business with leading airframers. This award reinforces Senior's strong and extensive experience in product design and qualification, and continued investment in advanced manufacturing technologies. These new product lines will further enhance Senior's capabilities in pressed, formed, and highly engineered standard components. Commenting on the award, Launie Fleming, CEO of Senior Aerospace: "Our teams in Europe have been working hard to develop and qualify these highly engineered standard parts that have multiple applications across the commercial aircraft business of Airbus.
