Requirements
  • Broad experience across business, plant manufacturing, or engineering operations.
  • Successful experience leading a Lean Six Sigma or process-improvement team.
  • Experience serving as a project manager with completed industrial, logistics, or manufacturing-repair Lean Six Sigma projects.
  • Knowledge of and successful completion of the criteria for a Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Black Belt, or Green Belt certification.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma tools and methodology and the ability to apply them across a broad spectrum of processes.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A certificate signifying successful completion of the requirements for Master Black Belt, Black Belt, or Green Belt.
  • At least five consecutive years of employment in a position with comparable quality-control-management responsibilities within the past five years.
  • Proficiency in oral and written English communication.
  • Ability to use a computer to communicate via email.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of commercial quality-control plans and experience with drafting services, Computer Aided Engineering Graphics support, engineering drawing preparation and maintenance, and online engineering library maintenance.
  • Ability to become proficient in FAA National Airspace System systems and equipment, support documentation, and work processes through required training.
Responsibilities
  • Provide Lean Six Sigma quality-improvement services to the Federal Aviation Administration Logistics Center by facilitating, planning, coordinating, reviewing, evaluating, and reporting continual-improvement activities.
  • Identify and remove the causes of defects, errors, and waste in FAA Logistics Center processes using Lean Six Sigma techniques.
  • Function as a project manager, facilitator, consultant, and analyst as necessary.
  • Facilitate problem assessments, compile and analyze data, develop improvement teams, design and collect metrics, and facilitate improvement efforts.
  • Support Lean, Value-Based Care Redesign, active daily management, standard work, critical-to-quality metrics, visual management, rounding schedules, and huddle approaches.
  • Work with champions and senior leaders to identify, select, and scope quality-improvement projects.
  • Conduct quality-improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma methods and techniques to improve current and future processes.
  • Facilitate process-owner teams in developing current-state Value Stream Maps and eliminating non-value-added process steps.
  • Develop or revise metrics to measure improvement in FAA Logistics Center processes.
  • Report quality-improvement project status to senior leaders.
  • Identify and implement enterprise-wide process-improvement activities using Lean/Six Sigma, Plan-Do-Study-Act, or similar methodologies.
  • Support the development, prioritization, and execution of performance-improvement projects using Lean/Six Sigma, Plan-Do-Study-Act, or similar methodologies.
  • Assist with implementation and training for functional areas regarding process-engineering maintenance plans and staff training.
  • Collect, monitor, and evaluate project key-performance metrics and develop project-status reports.
  • Facilitate cross-functional improvement teams following the Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control roadmap or a similar improvement process.
  • Communicate process-design and implementation gaps to upper management and support compliance, quality, and continuous-improvement requirements.
  • Provide drafting services, including drafting-file-system operation and maintenance, drawing reproduction, and preparation of engineering drawings, electronic artwork, and electronic media.
  • Maintain the FAALC technical library and engineering documentation.
  • Provide Environmental, Safety and Occupational Health specialist services, including training, monitoring, and technical guidance throughout project planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closeout.
  • Provide logistics analysis and recommendations for planning, scheduling, monitoring, estimating, and coordinating supply support, support equipment, maintenance-support facilities, and Packaging, Handling, Storage and Transportation activities.
  • Provide management and program analysis services by planning, scheduling, conducting, and reporting analyses of management, administrative, and logistics programs and procedures.
  • Provide project-management services covering project planning, initiation, execution, monitoring, control, closeout, and maintenance of project files.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or Industrial Technology.
  • A Master's degree in Business or Process Administration.
