Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Program and 4 years of experience as a Nuclear Cardiology Tech required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support required
  • NYS licensure in Nuclear Medicine or a 6-month temporary license when accredited program is passed and new hire is waiting to pass the NMTCB exam and/or the ARRT(N) exam required
  • AR DMS or ARRT - Nuclear Medicine Technologist NYS licensure required (N)
  • CNMT - Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board required or
  • CRT - Certified Radiologic Technologist required and NMTCB or ARRT NMTCB preferred
  • NMTCB - Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required
  • CT - Cytotechnologist by NMTCB or ARRT for attenuation correction or diagnostic CT preferred
  • NMTCB - Nuclear Medicine Technologist preferred
Responsibilities
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s)
  • Performs nuclear cardiology imaging in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization
  • Orders, prepares, administers, stores and disposes of radiopharmaceuticals according to established protocols and applicable regulations/standards
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate
  • Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure
  • Enters, transmits and reports scan results
  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation
  • Ensures proper imaging techniques related to patients age and ability to understand procedure, such as sight, hearing needs, ability to cooperate, to ensure image quality is successfully obtained
  • Reviews patient information and interpretation of data to confirm an appropriate plan and intervention specific for age related needs and provision of care
  • Serves as a preceptor in the onboarding of newly hired Technologists directly orienting to equipment, imaging routines and procedures, computer programs and software, as well as departmental and hospital policies
  • Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies in the Clinical Nuclear Cardiology rooms
  • Other duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications
  • CT - Cytotechnologist by NMTCB or ARRT for attenuation correction or diagnostic CT preferred
