Requirements
  • Responsible for implementing all project control aspects of the project or portfolio of projects including Scheduling, Cost Control, Change Management, Risk Management in accordance with GHD policies and procedures and good industry practices. Strong grasp in Project Measurement and Earned Value principles is important.
  • Document Preparation: Organize and prepare complex documents using a variety of applications for technology devices, such as standard office software. Also responsible for gathering and summarizing data for special reports.
  • Project Controls: Works closely with the PM on all major project functions, with a primary focus on managing and providing support on the project controls functions. Take a hands-on approach to all or portions of the project controls functions depending on project complexity and staff assigned.
  • Cost Accounting: Conduct complex analyses of costs for a significant part of the business to identify variances, suggest efficiencies, and increase profitability.
  • Cost Calculation and Analysis: Prepare and analyze accurate costings for construction, maintenance, or improvement works. Will include calculations covering materials, quantities, and labor time.
  • Cost Price Calculation: Develop optimization models and intelligence for cost price and/or project estimation of existing and new products and/or projects based on historical data, market data, and input of commercial teams.
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
  • Operational Compliance: Make recommendations on change notices in compliance with best practice change management techniques.
  • Budgets: Reviews with the PM, Design Manager and Discipline Leads the budget and schedule on a regular basis, identifying gaps and providing solutions to achieving the scope, budget and schedule requirements. Works effectively with the finance department, especially the project administrators, to ensure project budgets and invoices are accurate and coordinates with the PM to ensure invoices are issued to the client.
  • Cost Reduction: Contribute to reviewing costs, generate ideas for cost reduction, and contribute to the implementation of cost saving initiatives.
  • Project Reporting and Review: Draft elements of project review reports and presentations to support delivery of the review process.
  • Education: Bachelor’s (B.Sc.) degree or equivalent diploma from a recognized college or university.
  • Experience: Minimum of ten years broad and extensive technical, administrative and project experience; minimum 10 years working within project controls within a design / engineering environment.
  • Experience: Experience in providing project controls/services for design delivery for larger, multi-discipline engineering projects specifically for industrial/process plants, facilities, or buildings; from design inception through to construction completion.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience working and/or managing the project controls (Both scheduling and cost control) functions with hands on experience on the following:
  • Detailed knowledge of scheduling methods, cost control processes, risk management procedures
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing project metrics including but not limited to earned value, CPI, SPI
  • Detailed understanding of project controls as it applies to a design environment in different project types (DB, DBB, PDB, IPD).
  • Detailed understanding of the implementation and coordination of project control systems not limited to P6, Acumen Fuse (or similar)
  • High level of proficiency and experience with cost analysis (eg. MS Excel) and planning scheduling (eg. MS Project or Primavera P6) tools, including the porting of data from EC industry ERP or cost accounting systems.
  • Experience with project dashboarding using Power BI.

Desired Qualifications
  • PMP, PMI or similar qualifications is considered an asset.
