Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in one of the following: leading projects for Japanese enterprises or government agencies at a globally top-tier management consulting firm or think tank; business development or project/product management at a startup, global technology company, or large enterprise; or fundraising, mergers and acquisitions, or initial public offerings at a global investment bank.
  • Practical project management experience on enterprise projects, including the ability to independently carry out team building, task and issue management, schedule management, and quality management.
  • Deep client negotiation experience, including requirements alignment, expectation management, and issue structuring, and the ability to produce high-quality requirements specifications, project plans, and issue logs.
  • Interest in using generative AI models such as large language models and AI agents, understanding of their basic mechanisms—including API use, model characteristics, data assumptions, cost, and security—and willingness to keep up with current trends.
  • Business-level or higher Japanese proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Identify challenging client business problems in collaboration with account managers, engineers, and AI researchers, and propose and execute AI-powered solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic partners across industries, including large enterprises and government agencies, and develop new business opportunities.
  • Lead client requirements alignment, expectation management, and issue structuring, and lead strategy development for determining what to build and how to build it.
  • Take responsibility for overall project quality, cost, and schedule, and complete delivery reliably.
  • Communicate effectively with development team members and technical partners, and lead and support the team toward project goals.
  • Feed insights gained from individual projects back into company-wide product management and go-to-market strategy.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience driving upstream project phases such as requirements definition, technology selection, and architecture design, including proof-of-concept and technical validation phases.
  • Experience organizing requirements, designing, or managing risks for systems using generative AI, including AI agents, embeddings, and retrieval-augmented generation.
  • Experience managing development project teams and developing team members, and related qualifications such as Project Management Professional or Scrum Master.
  • Experience with agile development or the ability to adapt to agile ways of working.
  • Business-level English proficiency.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in business administration, economics, engineering, information science, or a related field; a degree in computer science or machine learning is preferred.
