About the job

Requirements
  • At least 4 years of real-world embedded software experience in embedded Linux, microcontrollers, FPGA, or ideally a combination.
  • Deep experience with toolchains and build systems, including cross-compilation, continuous integration and continuous delivery for hardware, and debugging infrastructure.
  • Extensive use of AI tooling and strong opinions about how AI should transform firmware development.
  • A track record of independently shipping zero-to-one products at early-stage companies.
  • Demonstrated ownership and autonomy in identifying opportunities, prototyping solutions, and shipping them.
  • Ability to act as a client-facing technical partner, quickly understand engineers’ problems, and earn their trust.
  • Ability to work hands-on across cloud stack, firmware, and other areas needed to bring prototypes to life.
Responsibilities
  • Own major product areas end-to-end by conceiving, designing, implementing, and shipping platform features from desktop application to cloud stack in close collaboration with customers.
  • Use BootLoop daily to prototype workflows, identify product opportunities, and build experiences that demonstrate what is possible.
  • Work directly with clients across industries as a trusted technical partner, helping them solve firmware challenges efficiently.
  • Design and implement hardware-in-the-loop validation systems, simulation frameworks, and automated testing infrastructure for firmware engineering.
  • Develop ways to automate and accelerate firmware development using internal tools and external building blocks.
  • Collaborate with the founders on product strategy, technical feasibility, and platform decisions.
  • Help create an engineering team as the company grows.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience across multiple embedded domains, such as automotive, aerospace, medical, or energy.
  • Developer tools or infrastructure experience.
  • Experience in a forward-deployed or solutions engineering capacity.

About the company

BootLoop creates an AI agent that automates firmware development for embedded systems. The agent ingests engineering documents like datasheets and schematics to generate firmware code in C, C++, and Rust, and then runs hardware-in-the-loop tests by connecting to test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) to validate the code on real hardware in a closed loop of generation, testing, and refinement. This hands-on testing setup helps catch issues early and speeds up development from months to minutes. Compared with competitors, BootLoop pairs AI-driven code generation with direct hardware testing and strong security options (on-premise deployment, SOC 2, ITAR readiness), backed by founders with experience at Accenture, MIT Media Lab, SpaceX, and Sonos. The company targets enterprise firmware design and validation services while planning a developer-focused product, aiming to shorten development cycles, reduce recalls, and bring automated firmware workflows to embedded systems.

What believers are saying

  • BootLoop Test launched June 1, 2026, expanding the product beyond firmware generation.
  • BootLoop claims ITAR-capable workflows, targeting aerospace and defense buyers with urgent compliance needs.
  • Pilot onboarding in 2026 signals early demand from deep-tech, medical, and robotics teams.

What critics are saying

  • BootLoop’s June 2026 product launch lacks named customers, making adoption unproven.
  • Pre-seed funding of $500K leaves little runway against entrenched incumbents.
  • If HIL automation stalls, engineers revert to manual scripts and BootLoop becomes a demo artifact.

What makes BootLoop unique

  • BootLoop pairs firmware generation with hardware-in-the-loop testing, unlike code-only copilots.
  • Noah Pacik-Nelson and Chris Markus bring SpaceX, MIT Media Lab, and Accenture credibility.
  • BootLoop Test unifies bench, CI, and end-of-line validation on one versioned workflow.

BootLoop launches new test platform to bring ai-powered hardware-in-the-loop testing to every team.

BootLoop launches new test platform to bring ai-powered hardware-in-the-loop testing to every team. New framework enables any hardware company to go from zero testing infrastructure to a fully automated pipeline in days. Jun 2, 2026 Prev Next 1 of 43,155 BootLoop, the AI platform for firmware and embedded development, announced the launch of BootLoop Test, an end-to-end hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing framework built to make automated, hardware-validated testing accessible to every team. Backed by Y Combinator and founded by engineers from SpaceX and the MIT Media Lab, BootLoop gives hardware companies the engineering resources previously available only at large enterprises. Most hardware companies know they need more rigorous firmware testing, they just don't have the time or the tools. Aithority built BootLoop Test so they don't have to choose between shipping quickly and shipping robust code. HIL testing is one of the most valuable practices a hardware company can adopt, yet the vast majority operate without any rigorous testing infrastructure. Historically, building a hardened HIL framework required dedicated test engineers, months of custom development, and specialized skills that most firmware teams don't have. As a result, many companies either forgo testing entirely or rely on ad hoc scripts and manual validation processes that slow development cycles, miss errors, and cause fragile release processes. "Most hardware companies know they need more rigorous firmware testing," said Noah Pacik-Nelson, CEO of BootLoop. "They just don't have the time or the tools. We built BootLoop Test so they don't have to choose between shipping quickly and shipping robust code." BootLoop Test solves these problems by providing a complete HIL platform that spans the entire embedded product lifecycle. Key capabilities include: * Zero to CI in Hours: Using a single command install, teams can go from zero testing infrastructure to a full CI pipeline on real hardware in hours. * AI-Generated, Hardware-Accurate Tests: BootLoop's agent ingests PCB design files and component datasheets to automatically generate tests that validate real hardware behavior down to the register level. * One Framework, Bench to Production Line: The comprehensive framework unifies bench, CI, and end-of-line validation on a single platform.
