- Two to five years of hands-on experience in low-voltage systems, structured cabling, networking, and closed-circuit television systems is required.
- Strong understanding of fiber optic termination, network infrastructure, and Point-of-Sale deployment and troubleshooting is required.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record and no driving under the influence or driving while intoxicated conviction in the last three years is required.
- Reliable personal transportation is required.
- Basic telecom tools and standard personal protective equipment are required.
- The technician must be comfortable working independently and leading small teams.
- The technician must be willing to travel extensively for four to six weeks at a time and work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain structured cabling systems, including Category 5, Category 6, fiber, and coaxial cable.
- Perform conduit installation, cable dressing, and cable termination inside intermediate distribution frame and main distribution frame cabinets.
- Install and configure closed-circuit television and network devices.
- Lead small teams on multi-week projects to ensure timely, safe, and budget-conscious delivery.
- Read and interpret blueprints and site maps.
- Operate boom and/or scissor lifts to work at heights of 40 or more feet.
- Conduct system testing and ensure compliance with safety and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate with clients and team members.
- Industry certifications such as BICSI, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Mine Safety and Health Administration, AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist, Panduit, Belden, or Corning are preferred but not required.
- Hands-on experience with fusion splicing is preferred but not required.
- Experience running DSX cable certification testing is preferred but not required.
