About the Company

Essentia Health

Nonprofit integrated healthcare for rural areas

Essentia Health is a non-profit, integrated health system serving rural areas in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota, with 14 hospitals and 79 clinics plus long-term care and ambulatory services. It delivers care through hospitals, clinics, and digital health tools, including telehealth, and earns revenue from patient services, with about 40% tied to value-based care linked to outcomes and costs. The system combines scale with a rural focus, operates as a physician-led, not-for-profit organization, and reinvests profits into community health, supported by a Level 3 NCQA Accountable Care Organization. Its goal is to improve health outcomes and access for rural populations while controlling costs through integrated care and value-based payment models.
