Requirements
  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field.
  • Proven work experience as a DBA or similar role, with expertise in database administration for large-scale systems.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in database administration or operations. Strong knowledge in Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Windows, Unix or Linux.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their RDBMS databases as well as database monitoring and management tools - e.g., SCOM, Datadog;
  • Proficiency in Shell script or Power shell, SQL scripting, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with issue, change control tracking software’s e.g., Remedy-ITSM, JIRA.
  • Experience with database backup and recovery strategies and techniques as well as excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities simultaneously as well as capacity for self-directed learning is required.
  • Knowledge in other advance database technologies like Oracle, PostgreSQL, Greenplum, Sybase, MySQL, or IBM DB2 is plus.
Responsibilities
  • Perform routine database administration tasks, including installation, configuration, migration, patches, and upgrades of database systems.
  • Identify and resolve database performance issues, including tuning SQL queries, optimizing indexing, and implementing necessary database changes.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring and proactive management of database systems to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Support database backup and recovery activities, ensuring appropriate backup strategies and disaster recovery plans are in place.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents and problems, both independently and in collaboration with other technical teams.
  • Provide operational support, including capacity planning, system performance analysis, and resource utilization monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to database administration procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation schedule to ensure 24/7 availability and response to critical incidents.
  • Provide Level 1 and Level 2 support for database-related incidents, working closely with the Incident, management, and escalation teams.
