Requirements
  • At least 1 year of progressive front-office supervisory experience in a hotel.
  • Experience in hotel front-desk or customer-service operations.
  • Proficiency in hotel property-management systems; Opera knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and solve problems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure.
  • Ability to handle financial information and data.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform light work, including occasionally lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work long hours as required.
  • Proficiency in using office equipment and software.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operations of the front office and supervise front-office personnel.
  • Run the daily operation of the assigned shift by supporting front-desk staff and assisting with guest challenges.
  • Assist Guest Service Agents with check-ins and checkouts and confirm that standard operating procedures are followed.
  • Supervise front-desk agents in their daily duties.
  • Train new employees and help develop and implement training programs.
  • Verify and adjust payroll for hourly staff.
  • Conduct interviews for Guest Service Agent positions.
  • Coach and counsel Guest Service Agents, Operators, and Bell staff on performance, communication, and standards.
  • Maintain performance logs for Guest Service Agents and perform disciplinary action as necessary.
  • Authorize and sign adjustments and paid outs over the applicable limit.
  • Manage the bank and maintain it at the correct amount.
  • Handle guest complaints, respond quickly, and log and notify the appropriate areas to service guests.
  • Coordinate timely guestroom availability with Housekeeping for check-in.
  • Oversee Bell and Door staff.
  • Confirm completion of daily duties by Front Desk Agents, Operators, and Bell staff.
  • Perform all Front Desk duties as needed.
  • Brief staff daily on events of the day.
  • Ensure the staff is updated on new policies and procedures.
  • Work with Front Desk staff to maintain and improve guest-service scores.
  • Attend hotel meetings and committees as required.
  • Manage ongoing special projects and duties within the Front Office.
  • Log employee absenteeism and lateness.
  • Oversee key inventory.
  • Complete special projects in a timely manner as required by the Front Office Manager or General Manager.
  • Block rooms for special groups.
Desired Qualifications
  • A 2- or 4-year college degree is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Opera property-management system is a plus.
