Requirements
  • Real-world experience in the protocols and practices that make up the fabric of the global internet, including IP, BGP, Anycast, and DNS.
  • Proficiency in Tier 1 Internet service providers and Internet exchanges
  • Ability to analyse traffic patterns across multiple dimensions using flow-based tools.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix
  • Experience working with alerting, monitoring and visibility tools (such as Graphite/Grafana, Prometheus, or Splunk)
  • Understanding of highly available & complex systems and how they operate at scale.
  • Basic Coding/ scripting skills, preferably in Python.
Responsibilities
  • Build, operate, and maintain the continually growing global network footprint of Fastly’s Edge Cloud Platform.
  • You will be responsible for managing network incidents, and resolving edge cases and failure scenarios by leveraging your expertise in IP routing, focusing on BGP.
  • Develop innovative ways of monitoring the performance of the platform, with a focus on the experience of end users on the Internet. Catch and remediate potential issues before they develop into impacting events.
  • Respond to both internal & external facing incidents. Use learnings from these events to help shape processes, automation and tooling to reduce future occurrences.
  • Advocate for the operational stability of the network. Look for areas of opportunity and partner with engineering teams in the scoping and prioritisation of their roadmaps and software solutions.
