  • Must be able to lift and/or push supplies and equipment, including regularly handling weights up to 50 pounds, and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks or equivalent effort.
  • Must be able to perform duties while standing, sitting, and walking, and frequently reach, stoop, bend, kneel, and crouch.
  • Must be able to work while standing on a stepladder at a height of four feet, walk stairs when necessary, and maintain good balance.
  • Must be able to work occasionally in confined spaces and occupied areas and may be required to handle emergency or crisis situations.
  • Required protective clothing may include gloves, eye protection, face protection, and shoe covers.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain environmental and infection-control standards within established health care facility policies and procedures.
  • Clean occupied and unoccupied patient rooms, operating rooms, ancillary and patient-related areas, and departmental general areas using the system’s ten-step cleaning process.
  • Stock supplies in assigned areas as needed.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, storing it in assigned locations.
  • Follow applicable laws, regulations, and standards from the CDC, OSHA, EPA, and Joint Commission, as well as relevant policies and procedures.
  • Follow isolation procedures in isolation and contact-plus rooms.
  • Detail-clean vents, fan fixtures, window tops, door frames, wall art, bumpers, furniture, and other areas as necessary.
  • Clean assigned public areas, including lobbies, waiting rooms, restrooms, elevators, utility rooms, exam rooms, offices, and stairwells.
  • Collect and replace sharps and black pharmacy box containers in patient care areas.
  • Document and maintain records of assigned cleaning tasks.
  • Communicate information and requests to registered nurses and/or patient care assistants as appropriate.
  • Provide service to patients, staff, families, and visitors, and direct visitors as necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and unit data under HIPAA regulations.
  • Remove trash and soiled linen from assigned areas and transport them to disposal areas.
  • Operate mechanical floor equipment, such as iMops, vacuums, and sweepers, as needed.
  • Collect trays from patient rooms as needed.
  • Coordinate cleaning-area activities with the department coordinator as needed.
  • Attend regular staff meetings and assume responsibility for personal growth and development.
  • Attend huddles and use problem-solving methods in support of the Bronson Management System.
  • Operate ultraviolet disinfection equipment (Surfacide UV Robot) where applicable.
  • Perform other assigned duties, which may include operating the trash compactor and emptying trash and linen chutes.
  • Collect, label, and organize biomedical waste for pickup by the waste hauler at applicable facilities.
  • Collect and transport recycling to the compactor or commingled dumpster.
  • Transport waste to the appropriate compactor or outside dumpster as needed.
  • Change privacy curtains where needed.
  • Round, inspect, and maintain assigned areas, including lab work areas, offices, restrooms, waiting areas, patient procedure rooms, stairwells, receiving docks, ambulatory storage, EVS closets, biomedical storage rooms, recycling areas, elevator landings and interiors, and elevator tracks.
  • Properly use and maintain assigned floor-care machinery, including auto scrubbers, corded and battery-powered vacuums, iMops, burnishers, and side-by-side scrubbers.
  • Coordinate with the department coordinator as needed.
  • May perform laundry duties at applicable facilities.
