Requirements
  • A Social Work Consultant must be a licensed social worker, hold a Master of Social Work degree, or be a school guidance counselor.
  • The consultant must maintain current professional liability insurance.
  • The consultant must be able and willing to adjust work hours according to scholar needs.
  • Licensed staff must complete the training hours required every two years to maintain the license and complete Mandated Reporter Training every five years.
  • The consultant must provide a valid Pennsylvania State Criminal History Report, Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearances, and an FBI Criminal History Report based on fingerprinting.
  • The consultant must have working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws governing the proper handling of scholar information.
  • The consultant must attend weekly team meetings with the WES Program Director.
  • The consultant must maintain compliance with the Consultant Guidelines included in the agreement.
Responsibilities
  • Provide social work services for assigned projects at Global Leadership Academy for five days per week and a minimum of 6.5 hours per day, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
  • Provide individual therapeutic sessions to identified students, prioritizing students with prescribed counseling services in their Individualized Education Programs.
  • Facilitate group processes and psychoeducation sessions for identified scholars.
  • Conduct school-wide workshops and professional development sessions, limited to no more than four per school year.
  • Manage and follow through on multi-agency services for students and their families, particularly when those needs and services affect students' educational adjustment.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and community agencies when reporting child abuse or neglect and crisis events.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for social work-related school services and attend required meetings.
  • Document each service encounter within 24 hours of service delivery.
  • Provide monthly or requested quantitative and qualitative data reports for groups, workshops, and individual interventions.
  • Support the attendance initiative by meeting with parents or guardians at school or in the community as needed.
  • Provide system-level consultation to enhance classroom and school climate, promote optimal learning, improve interpersonal relationships, and alleviate barriers to positive adjustment.
