Requirements
  • The resource must be able to communicate in English because the resident is anglophone.
  • Candidates should have a PAB or ASSS profile, or be a nursing student.
  • Candidates must be autonomous and reliable and use a humane approach.
  • The organization does not provide meals, transportation, or accommodation, and continuous coverage must be maintained without breaks or a scheduled meal period.
Responsibilities
  • Provide continuous day and night surveillance of the resident to prevent wandering, entering neighboring rooms, and situations that could compromise the resident’s safety or dignity.
  • Accompany and supervise the resident during movement inside and outside the room, and provide direct assistance as needed during transfers.
  • Remind the resident to use the bathroom, supervise and assist as needed, including in cases of incontinence or messes, in collaboration with the RPA staff.
  • Use a positive, simple, gentle approach adapted to the resident’s cognitive abilities, and avoid discussing the resident’s difficulties or limitations because the resident may react negatively.
