Requirements
  • Have a strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience working within a similar field.
  • Have experience working with service users with a range of needs, such as mental health, physical health, and criminal justice.
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills and good information technology skills.
  • Be proactive and able to work on own initiative, with strong time management and prioritising skills.
  • Have a good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and good practice.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in partnership with a wide range of professionals, agencies, and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Have an understanding and awareness of current national policies on smoking and the strategies that influence the priorities of stop smoking services.
  • Have experience working within a health and/or social care environment.
  • Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK at the time of application; visa sponsorship and new visa applications or extensions are not available.
  • The post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Responsibilities
  • Act as the main care coordinator overseeing assigned groups of Non-Opiate service users.
  • Ensure a multidisciplinary team approach to caseload management and encourage lead agencies involved to actively support service users.
  • Use home visits and community venues for one-to-one and group work sessions.
  • Provide rapid and flexible interventions where required to meet service users' needs.
  • Support service users from entry into the service through their treatment and recovery journey.
  • Provide Very Brief Advice training to staff, volunteers, and local partner organisations.
  • Use a trauma-informed approach to build engagement and provide support.
  • Engage with professionals and the wider community to increase understanding of smoking's impacts on health and wellbeing.
  • Provide one-to-one, group, drop-in, and telephone support to clients wishing to become smoke-free.
  • Support the Team Lead to ensure service targets are achieved.
