ABOUT BIOACTIVES
Bioactives are small molecule compounds produced by plants, fungi, and microbes that are essential for their survival. Bioactives also benefit the health of humans – they are the enlivening caffeine in tea, the powerful antioxidant lycopene in tomatoes or curcumin in turmeric, and they are the active ingredients in medicines like Taxol, aspirin and Metformin Science has long known that bioactives are critical to human health, yet the vast majority remain unknown and uncharted – often referred to as the “dark matter” of nutrition. Brightseed’s A.I., Forager®, discovers bioactives in nature and maps them to human health outcomes at a rate and accuracy that was previously impossible.
AVAILABILITY
The dates and work schedules are flexible and negotiable to accommodate a student’s needs. Applicants should, however, be able to work full time during the summer months, with a commitment of 40 hours a week.
ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Brightseed is offering a 10 - 12 week internship program to current MBA students seeking to gain experience in the biotech startup culture. We are looking for self-motivated individuals with a strong passion for how nature can improve our overall health and wellness. We have designed our program to introduce interns to different aspects of our culture and provide real world experiences working and assisting in all facets of operations. You will be given the opportunity to present to a broader team upon completion of the program. This experience will broaden your perspective on how various teams impact growth and innovation in a fast growing start-up. We are a cross functional collaborative team, looking for bright curious minds to join us on our journey!
THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE
We will work with you to select a project or projects given our mutual interest, business needs and background. Our goal is for you to walk away with a valuable and impactful experience, while delivering on a project of strategic commercial importance to Brightseed.
EXAMPLE OF PROJECTS
- Design and develop new marketing and sales collateral to highlight our partnership offerings
- Partner with Head of Business Development on outbound prospecting strategy to increase the quality and quantity of top-of-funnel sales leads
- Partner with Commercial leads to create go-to-market and sales strategy for new product launches
- Research and define our value proposition in new industries
- Create new reporting dashboards to support decision-making and drive clarity across the business on key commercial and operating metrics
THE EXPERIENCE YOU WILL NEED
- Educational or industry experience in pharma, consumer health, CPG, personal care, or food & Ag preferred
- Experience working closely with technical groups, with ability to translate complex data and results into relevant commercial insights
- Strong interpersonal, influence, communication and presentation skills to represent Brightseed’s value proposition and mission
COMPENSATION AND LOCATION
- This role will be paid $40.00 - $50.00 per hour consistent with educational level, market data and location.
- We are not offering relocation or housing and the role requires you to be onsite in either South San Francisco, California or Durham, North Carolina.
