Requirements
  • Graduation from a College of Veterinary Medicine accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association, or certification by the AVMA Education Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates or the Program for the Assessment of Veterinary Education Equivalence.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine license in at least one state, including a Texas veterinary license.
  • A passing score on the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination and the Texas State Board examination.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Availability for emergency on-call and backup support, including receiving after-hours phone calls and occasionally coming into the hospital to deliver patient care.
  • Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift or move medium-weight objects or animals.
  • Availability to work beyond normal office hours and/or on weekends.
Responsibilities
  • Provide and direct clinical care of client-owned animals, including diagnosis and treatment.
  • Coordinate with technical staff, clinicians, interns, residents, and students for clinical services.
  • Provide on-call and backup emergency services as needed.
  • Perform diagnostic, surgical, and medical procedures as needed.
  • Teach fourth-year professional veterinary students clinically and mentor and train service residents, interns, and visiting residents on the service.

  • Proof of board certification in a relevant specialty, if applicable.
