Kazakhstan issues court injunction against Coinbase, 5 crypto platforms.

Kazakhstan issues court injunction against Coinbase, 5 crypto platforms. Kazakhstan cross-border stablecoin volumes has hit +$650M after recent regulations. Updated 10:30 EDT October 21, 2026 Kazakhstan is cracking down on illegal crypto venues, with Coinbase and five other platforms as the latest targets. In a statement, the country's regulator, the Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA), announced that it has issued court injunctions against Coinbase, BitMart, Huobi Global (HTX), Bitcoin.com, WEEX and BingX. This was a follow-up after the six operators failed to respond to early 2026 warnings to comply with the AIFC (Astana International Finance Center) regulatory framework. Decrying the impact on illegal platforms, the regulator said, It also creates unfair competition for licensed market participants, who incur costs associated with complying with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT) requirements, conducting customer due diligence and meeting regulatory supervision requirements. The injunction bars the platforms from selling or marketing crypto services and extends to Google and Apple, which distribute the applications. Speaking on the same, Evgeniya Bogdanova, CEO of AFSA, said the crackdown started in 2025 and covered over 20 platforms. Initial injunctions against the illegal firms kicked off in early 2026 and pushed some to seek a license with the regulator. Other unregulated platforms cooperated and agreed to block users from the country. But for the remaining six non-compliant platforms, access restriction will be based on the latest injunction. Bogdanova added, AFSA continues to monitor illegal activities in this sector and, since May 2026, has been carrying out this work in close cooperation with the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the national regulator responsible for digital asset activities. Kazakhstan crypto adoption. That said, the country has granted approval to Binance and Bybit, amongst other platforms. Other global players that do not have an operating license, such as Bitget, have opted to block local users to avoid regulatory pressure and fines. The country has seen a massive push for crypto market clarity under the current President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev administration. In July, Kazakhstan formalized a framework to bring digital assets, including stablecoins and tokenized assets, into regulated financial markets. In 2025, the country ranked 16th in crypto adoption across the region. As of 2026, Chainalysis placed it among the top nine countries seeing massive cross-border stablecoin volume compared to domestic payments. It saw $655.9M in cross-border stablecoin flows vs. $168M in local transfers, translating to 3.9x more international volumes. In fact, the need to balance capital flight and international trade is forcing countries such as Russia to tighten their crypto rules. That said, BitMart will be shut down in early 2027. But it remains to be seen whether the remaining platforms will prohibit local users or apply for a license. Final summary. * Kazakhstan wants Coinbase and other platforms blocked from the country for non-compliance * Kazakhstan cross-border stablecoin volumes have exploded after the July decree

Kazakhstan court orders restrictions on crypto platforms. On October 20, 2026, a court in Kazakhstan's Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) issued a ruling that prohibits six cryptocurrency platforms from offering digital asset services without the necessary licenses. This decision marks a significant step in the country's regulatory efforts to manage the burgeoning crypto market. Platforms affected. The platforms named in the court's injunction include major players such as Coinbase, BingX, and Huobi Global. The ruling comes after the Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA) filed a lawsuit against these operators for providing digital asset services without proper authorization. The AFSA emphasized that users of unlicensed platforms lack essential protections, such as asset safeguarding and dispute resolution mechanisms. Regulatory context. This court ruling is part of a broader initiative by the AFSA to regulate the crypto landscape in Kazakhstan. In 2025, the authority warned over 20 platforms about compliance with AIFC rules, leading to nine platforms voluntarily restricting app access in the country. The AFSA withdrew its claims against these nine after they took corrective actions, while the injunctions remain in place for the six platforms that did not comply. Implications for the crypto market. The court's decision reflects ongoing efforts by Kazakhstan to ensure that digital asset service providers operate within a legal framework. The AFSA's CEO, Evgeniya Bogdanova, stated that the ruling is a result of extensive enforcement actions against unlicensed platforms that have been advertising and offering services without authorization. As the regulatory landscape continues to evolve, it is crucial for crypto platforms operating in Kazakhstan to seek proper licensing to avoid similar legal challenges. The AFSA has indicated that the national bank oversees digital asset service providers outside the AIFC, further complicating the regulatory environment. Conclusion. Kazakhstan's proactive approach to regulating the cryptocurrency market may serve as a model for other countries grappling with similar challenges. As the market matures, compliance with local laws will be essential for the sustainability of crypto platforms in the region.

Kazakhstan court orders restrictions on Coinbase, BingX and four others.

Kazakhstan court orders restrictions on Coinbase, BingX and four others. October 20, 2026 Crypto news general Negative Kazakhstan's Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) Court has issued legal injunctions against six cryptocurrency platforms, including Coinbase (COIN) and BingX, for conducting unlicensed digital asset activity in the Central Asian nation, according to the Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA). The original judgment was issued in September, with formal restrictions now being enforced against all six platforms, representing one of the most significant regulatory enforcement actions in Kazakhstan's emerging crypto market. This development is particularly noteworthy for Coinbase, the largest US-based crypto exchange by trading volume, as it adds to a growing list of international jurisdictions scrutinizing the platform's licensing compliance outside its home market. For crypto traders and investors in Kazakhstan - a country that became a major Bitcoin mining hub following China's 2021 crackdown - these restrictions could limit access to popular global trading platforms and push activity toward local or compliant alternatives. The enforcement action reflects a broader global trend of regulators demanding formal licensing before crypto firms operate within their borders, a standard increasingly enforced across Asia, the Middle East, and Central Asia. Investors tracking Coinbase regulatory news, crypto exchange bans, and Central Asia blockchain regulation should monitor how the affected platforms respond to AFSA's demands. Watch for whether Coinbase or BingX pursue licensing applications with Kazakh authorities or contest the court's injunctions, as the outcome could influence how other global exchanges approach compliance in frontier crypto markets. Kazakhstan's Astana International Financial Centre Court has issued injunctions against six cryptocurrency platforms, including Coinbase and BingX for carrying out unlicensed activity. According to the Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA), the court issued its original judgment on Sept.
