About the Job

Requirements

  • Experience in project management on capital, industrial, or research infrastructure projects, including ownership of delivery across project types and stages of maturity.
  • Ability to adapt project-management approach to the project's stage and needs.
  • Ability to remain effective as projects, priorities, and scope change in an ambiguous environment.
  • Ability to engage across infrastructure and manufacturing-interface domains without deep specialization in either, using delivery rigor and stakeholder management.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence tools and digital working methods.
  • Ability to work effectively in a lean, high-autonomy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a versatile project manager across a growing portfolio of projects.
  • Take ownership of projects where no clear delivery owner currently exists.
  • Manage work across Alpha-adjacent infrastructure, manufacturing interfaces, and early Stellaris planning.
  • Own projects end to end, from initial structure through delivery.
  • Build processes, plans, and accountability where they do not yet exist.
  • Keep projects moving in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Work proactively and take initiative without waiting for perfect clarity.
  • Absorb new programme needs as they emerge.
  • Ensure increased programme activity results in delivered outcomes rather than a growing backlog.
  • Own end-to-end delivery for assigned projects across the Alpha programme and adjacent workstreams, including schedule, budget, risk register, and stakeholder management from early definition through completion.
  • Pick up projects at varying stages of maturity and apply the appropriate level of structure, from shaping an early concept into a fundable plan to driving an active delivery programme to completion.
  • Work across infrastructure and manufacturing-interface domains as the programme's project landscape evolves and engage meaningfully with technical leads without requiring deep specialization in either domain.
  • Support early Stellaris planning work covering infrastructure, site, and programme requirements as timelines make this relevant.
  • Feed project schedules and risk inputs into the Alpha Integrated Master Schedule and coordinate with the Programme Schedule Manager to ensure assigned workstreams are accurately reflected in the programme baseline.
  • Identify and manage dependencies between assigned projects and the broader Alpha programme and escalate interface risks early.

Desired Qualifications

  • Background in capital project delivery in energy, industrial, or research sectors is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with first-of-kind or early-stage programmes is a plus.
  • German language proficiency is a strong advantage.

About the Company

Proxima Fusion

Develops commercial fusion reactors using QI-HTS

Proxima Fusion designs and builds fusion power plants based on quasi-isodynamic high-temperature-superconductor (QI-HTS) stellarators. Its main project, Alpha, is a net-energy stellarator demonstrator near Munich developed with partners Bavaria, IPP and RWE to test and prove the technology before a commercial Stellaris plant planned for the 2030s. The company leverages its roots as the first Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics spin-out and uses advanced HTS magnets to create steady magnetic confinement for fusion plasma, enabling a scalable path to power generation. Proxima differentiates itself by pursuing a clear commercial roadmap from a world-class research lineage, collaboration with industry and government partners, and a focus on the Stellaris design to move from a demonstrator to a market-ready fusion power plant. The goal is to deliver commercially viable fusion energy, moving from the Alpha demonstrator to fully commercial Stellaris plants in the 2030s.
