- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing is required.
- A Registered Nurse license in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations is required.
- Certification in the American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support is required.
- Demonstrate competency in clinical practice, set goals independently when managing complex patients and families, use the nursing process, and adapt care to rapidly changing patient conditions.
- Provide safe and competent patient care, follow current patient care guidelines, and communicate with peers, colleagues, providers, and others.
- Implement the nursing process independently for patients and families and integrate unit- and service-wide evidence-based practice resources into clinical practice.
- Operate unit-based patient care technology safely and competently, use the organization’s computerized information systems efficiently, and continually develop practice competencies, skills, and knowledge.
- Delegate care where appropriate.
- Serve as a preceptor for new employees and students.
- Create personal goals for lifelong learning and professional growth.
- Conduct self-assessments of performance and identify personal learning needs.
- Identify ethical issues in practice and take appropriate action.
- Refer to and consult with other health care providers and make provisions for continuity of care.
- Use evidence-based guidelines and policies to guide professional practice.
- Participate in established quality improvement studies and activities for patient safety and quality measures, and assist in continual readiness activities.
- Implement infection control procedures and document according to hospital policy.
- Practice proper safety techniques according to hospital and department policies and procedures, and immediately report equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee, patient, or visitor injuries and accidents to a supervisor.
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is preferred.
- Two years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse is preferred.
- An additional life support credential such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation Program, or another clinical specialty certification is preferred.
- Visual color acuity is preferred depending on the role in specific units.
