Requirements
  • An Associate of Applied Science degree or another related field is required.
  • MRTBE CT certification is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • At least one year of experience as an imaging technologist is required.
  • Understanding of computers and competence in using computers and basic software programs are required.
Responsibilities
  • Obtain patient history.
  • Educate patients and families regarding procedures, treatment, risk factors, and prevention.
  • Position patients appropriately for radiographic procedures.
  • Perform radiographic procedures and analyze results according to departmental guidelines.
  • Develop and evaluate radiographic results for technical quality, including density, contrast, definition, and distortion.
  • Apply learned methodologies with independent judgment according to established policies and procedures.
  • Perform prescribed procedures and maintain infection prevention standards.
  • Explain standard procedures and answer patient questions.
  • Prepare, clean, adjust, inspect, and maintain equipment.
  • Produce quality images and present them with pertinent patient information for timely interpretation.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation and archive imaging data as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other medical professionals.
  • Operate head or body scanners to create computer-generated cross-sectional images of internal organs and tissues.
  • Produce computed tomography radiographs of specific areas.
  • Determine and set technical parameters to demonstrate anatomy and pathology accurately.
  • Perform obstetric, gynecological, abdominal, retroperitoneal, and radiation-therapy-localization scans as applicable.
  • Adhere to regulatory, organizational, patient-care, safety, hospital, and departmental standards and policies.
  • Perform and evaluate equipment quality-control measurements, troubleshoot issues, and notify appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance.
  • Maintain efficient departmental workflow and adequate inventory of supplies and materials.
  • Document incidental findings that may affect patient safety or care and provide the information to the interpreting physician.
  • Maintain accurate facility reports, database records, and logs.
  • Ensure examination results meet facility quality-assurance standards before release for interpretation.
  • Provide oversight for assessment of examinations for technical quality, image quality, and accuracy.
  • Participate in creating and sustaining a learning environment supported by evidence-based practice and research.
  • Engage in personal development and professional interactions with peers and students.
  • Participate in ongoing in-service and educational seminars.
  • Orient, assist, mentor, and educate colleagues and students.
  • Assist with orientation and training of new staff.
  • Stay current with and comply with applicable state and federal regulations, statutes, and company policies.
  • Keep required certifications and licenses current and valid before expiration.
  • Complete mandatory modules and job-specific training within specified time frames.
  • Report safety incidents through the Midas/RDE tool in a timely manner.
  • Attend safety-related training programs and perform work safely.
  • Monitor the work environment for safety issues and ensure others perform work safely.
Desired Qualifications
  • Three years of experience as an imaging technologist.
