Requirements
  • An earned Associate’s degree with a major in Nursing (ADN or equivalent) from an accredited nursing program.
  • A current, active, and unencumbered Registered Nurse and/or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license issued by the Florida Department of Health.
  • A current and active Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
  • A minimum of four years of related practical work experience in the subject areas taught.
  • Excellent written, oral, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent teaching skills and the ability to efficiently manage students’ clinical and skills laboratory activities.
  • Computer literacy, including functional knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
  • The ability to manage people and projects.
  • Knowledge of the course content.
  • The ability to direct and evaluate student learning and laboratory performance.
  • Preparation in educational theory and techniques.
  • A willingness to follow high ethical standards.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • The ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare course plans and materials.
  • Deliver course lectures and facilitate laboratory and clinical rotations.
  • Monitor equipment and supply needs.
  • Maintain the classroom.
  • Arrange an approved substitute when absent.
  • Enforce institutional policies, including attendance, dress code, and clinical policies.
  • Participate in orientation, graduation, and pinning ceremonies.
  • Work on retention plans and program development.
  • Attend staff and faculty meetings.
  • Participate in committees and knowledge-sharing forums.
  • Facilitate student engagement.
  • Direct and assess student progress in achieving the program’s theory and performance requirements.
  • Monitor student progress and follow up as needed.
  • Provide weekly feedback reports to academic and campus leadership.
  • Maintain relevant licenses, certifications, and personnel-file paperwork.
  • Complete at least eight hours of continuing education units annually through professional development and in-service activities.
  • Encourage students to submit course evaluations, review available evaluations, and use feedback to improve course delivery.
  • Participate in ACEN and other accreditation activities.
  • Comply with governmental regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Start and end on time for assigned courses, clinicals, and laboratory hours.
  • Obtain prior approval for assignments requiring overtime.
  • Teach face-to-face didactic, clinical, patient or mannequin care, laboratory, simulation, and active-learning experiences.
  • Teach a minimum of 30 hours per week as a full-time faculty member.
  • Attend meetings, participate in accreditation, and serve on committees as a full-time faculty member.
