Requirements
  • Completion of a two-year Radiologic Technology training program approved by the American Medical Association.
  • Current ARRT (R) (M) registration and current CRT are required.
  • Current Basic Life Support/Healthcare Provider status according to American Heart Association standards is required.
  • At least three years of experience as a licensed technologist is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience is required.
  • Competence in Meditech, PACS, and Aspen as they relate to imaging and patient care is required.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Mammography Department to assure efficiency.
  • Assist physicians with mammography procedures, including biopsies and needle localizations, as needed.
  • Transport patients using a gurney, wheelchair, or by walking, and provide care during transportation and within the department when necessary.
  • Assist patients with limited mobility by lifting and moving them onto or off the scanning table or onto a procedural chair.
  • Perform and assist with screening and diagnostic mammograms and bone-density examinations as ordered by a physician.
  • Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining consent, explaining the examination, and answering patient questions.
  • Evaluate patient condition before and after procedures and report changes to the Radiologist for follow-up.
  • Assist with emergency medical treatment under physician direction.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, assist other staff, and complete special assignments.
  • Clean the work area and order and maintain department supplies inventory.
  • Review and verify outpatient orders and contact physician offices for clarification when needed.
  • Make daily staff assignments.
  • Serve as a resource for technologists, referring physicians, Radiologists, patient-care departments, and other department staff.
  • Keep Mammography Department staff informed about system and operational changes.
  • Attend department meetings and in-service sessions to maintain working knowledge of equipment and protocol changes.
  • Participate actively in performance improvement and quality measures.
  • Assist with staff training and competency activities.
  • Work with the Radiologist and Department Manager to develop and implement Mammography policies and protocols.
  • Work with the Department Manager to maintain ACR accreditation for Mammography.
  • Work with the Department Manager and Medical Director to ensure MQSA standards are maintained.
  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and yearly MQSA data and oversight activities, including equipment quality assurance and quality control, medical audits, EQUIP, and staff and Radiologist licensure and continuing education unit tracking.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
