About the job

Requirements
  • A master's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations, Information Systems, or a related field and 4+ years of experience in continuous improvement, operational excellence, process improvement, or transformation delivery; or a degree in those fields and 6+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
  • Establish and run the Continuous Improvement Framework as a permanent, always-on operating rhythm grounded in kaizen and facilitation.
  • Redesign and rerun workflows to outcomes through structured improvement cycles, using each measurement cycle to improve the next.
  • Embed new ways of working into standard work, clear ownership, and a disciplined execution cadence.
  • Read the Copilot Dashboard and other measurement signals to identify shallow usage, roles that are stuck, and where behavior change is or is not landing, then convert those signals into prioritized improvements.
  • Refine prompt libraries, enablement materials, and agent configurations based on usage data and Work IQ behavior signals.
  • Detect and correct agent drift, retire or rework low-value agents, and direct further investment toward high-ROI agents.
  • Establish standard work, ownership, and review cadences that make improvements durable and repeatable across teams.
  • Facilitate improvement events and retrospectives, treating friction and feedback as inputs to the next cycle.
  • Capture reusable improvement patterns and playbooks to improve the quality and speed of subsequent cycles.
  • Transfer the continuous improvement discipline, cadences, and tooling to customer personnel so the rhythm continues after the engagement.
  • Recommend and drive discontinuation of workflows, agents, and enablement assets that are not returning value, including work originally built by the engagement, so capacity is directed to higher-value work.
Desired Qualifications
  • A proven track record running continuous improvement or operational excellence programs that delivered sustained, measurable results.
  • Hands-on experience with kaizen, Lean, or comparable improvement methodologies and facilitation of improvement events.
  • Experience establishing standard work, ownership models, and execution cadences that make change durable.
  • Experience with quality assurance or evaluation practices for production systems.
  • Ability to read operational and adoption metrics and translate them into prioritized improvements.
  • Strong facilitation and stakeholder-management skills across business and technical teams.
  • Ability to work directly with operators and business owners to embed new ways of working into daily operations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
  • Lean, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), or equivalent continuous improvement certification.
  • Experience improving AI or automation solutions in production, including managing model, prompt, or agent performance over time.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot adoption and the Copilot Dashboard in Viva Insights, and using usage signals to drive improvement.
  • Understanding of agent operations, including drift detection, evaluation, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience linking improvement work to value and P&L outcomes.
  • Industry depth in one or more sectors such as Financial Services, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Energy, or Government.
  • Experience transferring a continuous improvement capability into a client's own organization.

Meta, Barclays, Block cut thousands of jobs as firms shift spending to AI

Companies are cutting jobs and shifting money from staff to artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, as the cost of meeting booming AI demand reshapes budgets. Meta will lay off about 8,000 workers, or 10% of its workforce, and leave about 6,000 jobs unfilled. It expects 2026 expenses to reach as much as $169 billion, driven by infrastructure and AI talent. Block is cutting more than 4,000 of its 10,000-plus employees; its shares are up 19% this year. Kroger will lay off 3,000 corporate staff over three years, and Barclays plans to cut 5,000 jobs, about 5% of its workforce. Snap is eliminating about 16% of staff, or 1,000 jobs. Coinbase is cutting about 14%, and Microsoft is offering buyouts to about 8,750 US employees.

Microsoft could be 2027's surprise quantum winner as Azure hits $100B in annualised revenue

Microsoft could be a surprise winner among quantum computing stocks in 2027, as pure-play rivals falter. IonQ shares are down 29% and D-Wave's 54% this year. Microsoft built a topological superconductor to produce more stable qubits, and pairs it with its Majorana chip architecture. The second version of the chip, it says, improves qubit stability 1,000x. The goal is 1 million qubits on a single chip. Researchers already use quantum processing through its Azure Quantum service. Azure reached $100 billion in annualised revenue in fiscal 2026. Microsoft had $19.6 billion in free cash flow in the fiscal fourth quarter, so it can fund quantum work without the runway risks smaller rivals face. Fourth-quarter revenue rose 18% to $90 billion. Management expects Azure revenue to grow 45% in fiscal 2027, and Microsoft reports first-quarter results on October 28.

VW gives 330,000 staff Microsoft Copilot while pushing a pay freeze to 2030

Volkswagen has equipped more than 330,000 employees with Microsoft Copilot, the AI assistant built into Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams, Microsoft said on October 21. The group says it is used in engineering, production, procurement, and sales. Two days earlier, Volkswagen's labour representatives said the company wants to hold salaries at 2026 levels for the rest of the decade. The company declined to comment on what it called "speculation." Trade union IG Metall is seeking a 5% raise over 12 months. At Microsoft's list price of $30 per user a month, 330,000 seats would cost at most $118.8 million a year. Neither company has disclosed what Volkswagen pays. Volkswagen is also targeting €6 billion in annual net savings by 2030 and plans job cuts in Germany.

Microsoft's AI diagnoses complex cases 83% of the time, versus 36% for generalist doctors

Microsoft's AI diagnostic system correctly diagnosed complex medical cases in a simulation 83% of the time, against 36% for generalist physicians, according to a study published in Science. The system, MAI-DxO, coordinates several AI agents that question a patient, order tests, and debate a diagnosis. The cases came from the New England Journal of Medicine. Specialists and physician teams, who usually handle such cases, were not part of the comparison. Much of the gain came from stronger underlying models, especially OpenAI's GPT-5 and GPT-5.5. MAI-DxO helped most on complex cases and with weaker models, but little on emergency department cases. Microsoft AI chief executive officer Mustafa Suleyman called the result a step toward "medical superintelligence." Microsoft is working with Mayo Clinic on a healthcare foundation model, and will test MAI-DxO with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

Amazon's $40B data centre push strains drought-hit Aragon as residents fight back

Aragon, a drought-stricken region of northeast Spain, has become a magnet for US tech companies building data centres. Amazon Web Services promises to spend almost $40 billion on several large complexes there, and Microsoft and Blackstone have also signed agreements. Regional authorities, which call Aragon the "Virginia of southern Europe," offered tax breaks and fast-tracked permits. They expect jobs and a place in the "new economy" that AI will bring. Amazon says it will create 6,200 permanent jobs. Residents and farmers fear water shortages, noise, and harm to wildlife, including birds killed by wind turbines that power the centres. Environmental groups have crowdfunded a legal challenge to Amazon's expansion and say the approvals were rushed.
