Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering/manufacturing with an excellent understanding of quality management practices or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent knowledge in engine parts and functions of them with 10 to 15 years’ experience.
  • Prior working experience in field machines/engines and troubleshooting knowledge.
  • Requires a thorough knowledge of quality concepts and quality tools including process control, analysis, Caterpillar internal certification principles, and ISO9000 etc.
  • Requires strong communication, cooperation, and influence skills to work with all levels of employees and customers, especially with leadership management employees.
  • Need to travel and visit customer site within country and abroad on need basis.
  • Advanced computer applications, good oral and written communications skills are a must.
Responsibilities
  • Exhibit leadership traits in developing excellent relationships with customers and develop the team to support all customers.
  • Have excellent project management skills and lead the team in resolving quality problems using Lean / Six sigma methodology.
  • Have thorough knowledge in working on engine problems in both mechanical and electronics side and possess working knowledge in SAP, Power Bi & other Quality system PC applications.
  • Have responsibilities for Quality Assurance in assigned areas, including performing audits, improvements of products reliability and customer satisfaction through support of the CPS (Caterpillar Production System), NPI (New Product Introduction) and CPI (Continuous Product Improvement) programs.
  • Capture engine/product quality complaints from customers are recorded in relevant Caterpillar Systems and circulate with problem description to engine manufacturing factory team.
  • Work very closely with all customer representatives on day-to-day basis including engine product support, machine product support teams, engineering teams and product groups.
  • Get regular feedbacks / Voice of customers through survey or other means.
  • Initiate a collaborative problem-solving process involving the relevant functional expertise (Production, Manufacturing engineering, Internal quality, Supplier quality, Logistics and supply chain) at engine manufacturing factory to investigate the problem through brainstorming session and the customer for containment activities, root cause analysis and corrective actions using the defined guidelines for execution and within timeline.
  • Ensure if failed parts or engines are required to assist with the root cause investigation they are returned within the required guidelines.
  • Drive to do the investigation along by utilizing resources like Material Analysis Lab, Engineering team and CMM etc.
  • Feed back to the Customer the current status and actions that have been undertaken on each issue that is reported on a timely manner through regular scheduled meetings as agreed with the Customer.
  • Support employees to improve quality practices in their processes through daily coaching, tracking CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement) projects & Scorecard, providing quality support if any poor results or negative trends occur, providing training courses of quality specifications to employees, conducting internal quality audits, facilitating management reviews, etc.
  • Implement the Idea Generation Process and Corrective and Preventive action processes by clarifying and verifying all ideas with related persons and spot check, explain the validation reasons, and encourage all employees to make contributions to achieve zero defect in operations.
  • Actively support Lean Manufacturing/ SAP and ongoing support, to help area owners set up goals and integrate Lean Manufacturing Practices with Internal Quality Certification system through standardization and documentation.
