Requirements
  • Working knowledge of instructional methods, educational materials, and effective pedagogy for teaching foundational basic mathematics and algebraic concepts.
  • Teach the course in accordance with the established syllabus and follow all established deadlines.
  • Experience using multiple approaches to teaching and learning, including technology, contextualized instruction, multiple levels, or innovative approaches that support student success.
  • Skilled in using technology, including Blackboard, Navigate, and EdReady, to deliver instruction and complete student tracking and reporting tasks.
  • Strong communication and writing skills for interoffice alignment and collaboration.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, special needs, and ethnic backgrounds of college students.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Ability to teach in person during daytime hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Strong computer skills for intensive use of an online mathematics course management system.
  • Ability to work onsite.
Responsibilities
  • Reach out to at-risk students who are not attending or participating in class to provide support and encourage re-engagement.
  • Deliver in-class instruction and theory, including hands-on assignments designed to provide real-time feedback and targeted instructional support.
  • Manage the classroom, develop lesson plans, and provide tutoring opportunities.
  • Conduct regular assessments of student performance and maintain up-to-date records of academic progress, attendance, in-class activities, and exams; track engagement trends and skill gaps to prepare reports and recommend students for tutoring.
  • Provide appropriate referrals to the Director, student support services, and other university resources as necessary to help students achieve their academic goals.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience teaching developmental mathematics at the secondary or college level.
  • Teaching experience in a community college setting.
  • Experience with online instruction.
