Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline is required.
  • Experience with signal processing, automation algorithm design and evaluation, acoustics, system or software design, machine learning, or data processing and analysis is required.
  • Experience working in an applied research environment is required.
  • Familiarity with developing software tools using MATLAB, Python, or a similar language is required.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens.
  • Applicants must be able to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision, communicate effectively with various client groups, work under pressure, accept supervision, and maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project's requirements.
  • A criminal history background check is required for finalists.
  • Applicants must submit a resume or curriculum vitae, three work references including at least one supervisor reference, a letter of interest, and an unofficial college transcript.
Responsibilities
  • Process and analyze acoustic data for SONAR system development, including developing novel signal-processing and automation algorithms.
  • Conduct acoustic and systems engineering to test and evaluate SONAR signal-processing and automation algorithms developed internally and externally.
  • Implement research-grade software and analysis tools in MATLAB, Python, or similar programming languages.
  • Develop applications including graphic visualizations, beamformers, automated trackers, automated target classifiers, machine-learning applications, and other algorithms as needed.
  • Prepare analysis presentations and technical reports.
  • Support collaborative research efforts with other team members.
  • Perform other related functions as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, Signal Processing, Acoustics, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Current or recent eligibility for access to classified information.
  • Two or more years of experience analyzing acoustic data, designing signal-processing or automation algorithms, or estimating SONAR system performance.
  • Experience in machine learning, predictive analytics, and big-data analysis.
  • One or more years of experience with software design, programming, and analysis using MATLAB, Python, or a similar language.
  • Experience working in both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Experience summarizing analysis results in technical reports or PowerPoint and presenting research results.
  • Ability to work independently, formulate research plans, take initiative, and mentor other staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.
