- A Master's Degree in applied behavior analysis, psychology, or a related health field is required within the state of practice.
- Current and recognized certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst is required within the state of practice and by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
- A minimum of two years of experience working as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst is required, including conducting functional behavior assessments and developing and implementing behavior intervention plans for individuals with varied behavioral health needs.
- American Heart Association cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification is required within 30 days of hire, with biannual recertification.
- Training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention is required within 60 days of hire or transfer, with annual recertification.

- Conduct functional behavior assessments to identify the function of challenging behaviors exhibited by patients.
- Develop individualized behavior intervention plans based on functional behavior assessment results using evidence-based strategies and techniques.
- Implement and monitor behavior intervention plans, collecting and analyzing data to evaluate effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
- Document patient progress, interventions, and data according to facility policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and therapists, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
- Escalate trends for program development and change to site leadership and share them with the treatment team.
- Provide training and ongoing support to nursing staff, mental health technicians, and other treatment team members on implementing behavior intervention plans and applying applied behavior analysis principles.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and provide clinical expertise and recommendations regarding behavior management.
- Participate in workplace safety activities for patients and staff, including crisis intervention.
- Supervise the work of Registered Behavior Technicians or other behavior technicians when needed, providing guidance and feedback.
- Support team operations through additional responsibilities aligned with organizational priorities, including goal achievement and cross-functional projects or initiatives beyond core responsibilities.
- Conduct oneself professionally and receive feedback productively to support personal and professional development.
- Work with an interdisciplinary team on a caseload of patients receiving treatment using cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy interventions.
- Experience working as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in a psychiatric inpatient setting is preferred.
