Requirements
  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering, physics, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in superconducting magnet design within a manufacturing or research environment
  • Hands-on experience in designing, fabricating, commissioning, and operating superconducting magnets
  • Hands-on experience with CAD
  • Proficiency in using commercial FEA tools for mechanical analysis
  • Familiarity with vacuum systems and suspensions
  • Excellent communication and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
Responsibilities
  • Define requirements and specifications for the mechanical system of the superconducting magnet for the Mark-I whole-body MRI scanner
  • Perform structural analysis using hand calculations and finite element methods
  • Lead the design, fabrication, assembly, and testing of mechanical components
  • Create, review, and maintain CAD models and technical drawings
  • Develop and implement comprehensive verification/validation test plans for mechanical systems
  • Lead the verification and validation of the mechanical system
  • Develop and execute the superconducting magnet reliability plan
  • Develop service tools to support the maintenance & safety of magnets
