Requirements

Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in software testing with a strong grounding in functional and regression testing and modern test design techniques such as Boundary Value Analysis, Equivalence Partitioning, and pairwise testing.
Minimum of 2 years of experience focused on test automation, including designing scalable frameworks and Continuous Integration integration.
Hands-on experience testing web applications and mobile applications end-to-end, including User Experience, User Acceptance Testing, and bug verification across various browsers and devices.
Proficiency with Cypress and JavaScript or TypeScript.
Experience with Application Programming Interface testing using tools such as Postman, Newman, Supertest, Representational State Transfer, or GraphQL.
Experience with at least one additional testing tool such as Playwright, WebdriverIO, Jest, or Mocha.
Proficiency with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment tools such as GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or GitLab.
Experience with Git version control and basic Docker, including familiarity with environment management and secrets.
Fluency with Software Development Life Cycle and Agile methodologies and tooling such as the Atlassian suite.
Ability to produce clear documentation including test plans, traceability, and results.
Ability to communicate technical risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience writing and maintaining automated tests across unit, integration, and end-to-end layers with a focus on reliability and maintainability.
Specific experience with Cypress features including selectors, fixtures, commands, intercepts, and parallelization.
Availability to work during Eastern Standard Time hours from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Responsibilities

Define risk-based test plans and acceptance criteria in partnership with Product and Engineering teams.
Translate user stories into clear test cases.
Build and maintain automated tests across end-to-end, integration, and Application Programming Interface layers.
Create reusable utilities and page objects and stabilize flaky tests.
Implement and manage Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment test gates, including smoke and regression testing, with parallelization and clear pass or fail signals.
Track test coverage and test health metrics.
Perform targeted manual and exploratory testing for new features, edge cases, and user experience flows.
Drive regression testing for critical software paths.
Create and manage test data, mocks, fixtures, and environment configurations to ensure deterministic and fast testing.
Coordinate with engineers to reproduce, triage, and debug issues using logs, metrics, and trace tools.
Verify software fixes and prevent regressions.
Manage post-deployment smoke testing and release sign-off for web and mobile applications.
Document test results and identified risks.
Improve the Quality Assurance and Software Developer in Test toolchain and practices, including coding standards, coverage goals, and reporting dashboards.

We are seeking a Software Developer in Test (SDET) to focus on our automation and manual testing of the suite of software products that we offer to customers. The candidate will be required to carry out tests to ensure the software we’re building addresses the business requirements and provides user friendly experience to our customers. The primary role is heavy on writing automated tests, maintaining them and triaging failures. This role will also include manual testing work for newer initiatives.

THE DAY-TO-DAY

Define risk-based test plans and acceptance criteria in partnership with Product/Engineering; translate user stories into clear test cases.
Build and maintain automated tests (Cypress/TypeScript preferred) across E2E, integration, and API layers; create reusable utilities/page objects and stabilize flaky tests.
Implement and own CI/CD test gates (smoke/regression) with parallelization and clear pass/fail signals; track coverage and test health metrics.
Perform targeted manual/exploratory testing for new features, edge cases, and UX flows; drive regression for critical paths.
Create and manage test data, mocks/fixtures, and environment configurations to keep tests deterministic and fast.
Coordinate with engineers to reproduce, triage, and debug issues using logs/metrics/trace tools; verify fixes and prevent regressions.
Own post-deploy smoke testing and release sign-off for web apps and mobile apps; document results and risks.
Continuously improve the QA/SDET toolchain and practices (coding standards, coverage goals, flake budgets, reporting dashboards).

WHAT MAKES YOU QUALIFIED

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Software or related field (advanced degrees a plus).
3+ years in software testing with strong grounding in functional/regression and modern test design techniques (BC, EP, pairwise, etc.).
Hands-on experience testing web applications and mobile apps end-to-end, including UX/UAT and bug verification across browsers/devices.
2+ years focused on test automation, including designing scalable frameworks and CI integration.
Proficiency with Cypress (preferred) and JavaScript/TypeScript; experience with API testing (Postman/Newman, supertest, REST/GraphQL) and at least one additional tool (Playwright/WebdriverIO/Jest/Mocha).
Comfortable with CI/CD (GitHub Actions/CircleCI/GitLab), Git, and basic Docker; familiarity with env management and secrets.
Strong analytical skills; fluency with SDLC/Agile and tooling (Atlassian suite or similar).
Ability to produce clear documentation (test plans, traceability, results) and communicate risks to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience writing and maintaining automated tests (unit/integration/E2E) with a focus on reliability and maintainability.
Experience with Cypress specifically (selectors, fixtures, commands, intercepts, parallelization).

The position disclosed is a contract position looking to be filled immediately. The contractor will be expected to work during EST (New York- USA) hours 9 AM - 5 PM.
