TELUS and Norton launch scam protection for calls, texts and emails, free on new data plans

TELUS and Norton launched Scam Protection on October 20, 2026, making TELUS the first Canadian telecom provider to include scam protection across calls, texts, and emails in all new mobility data plans. It is built into the My TELUS app and needs to be activated only once. The service has four features: Safe Call blocks and labels scam calls, Safe SMS flags suspicious texts, Safe Email scans up to five email accounts, and an AI Scam Assistant answers questions around the clock. It comes at no extra cost with new plans. Existing customers can switch to an eligible plan or add it to their current plan for $3 per month. Canadians reported more than $704 million in fraud losses in 2025, according to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

TELUS launches Digital Content Safety Seal for Canadian children's programming

TELUS has launched the TELUS Wise Digital Content Safety Seal, a new designation for Canadian children's programming funded through TELUS STORYHIVE. The seal identifies content that passes TELUS' comprehensive digital content safety review. The initiative combines expertise from TELUS Wise, TELUS STORYHIVE, and TELUS Digital. Programming with the seal will appear on TELUS STORYHIVE Kids TV, available via TELUS Optik TV Video on Demand channel 611, Stream+, and YouTube. To earn the seal, creators must undergo vulnerable sector checks when working with children, follow STORYHIVE's Code of Conduct, and maintain child safety protocols. TELUS Digital independently reviews, classifies, and assesses completed programmes against established safety standards. The seal goes beyond traditional age-appropriate ratings, evaluating content safety, production practices, and educational value.

TELUS trials Arrcus' AI networking fabric for sovereign distributed inference across Canada

Arrcus has announced a proof-of-concept with Canadian telecommunications company TELUS to explore using its Arrcus Inference Network Fabric (AINF) for delivering sovereign, distributed AI inferencing at national scale. The initiative aims to enable secure, low-latency AI for mission-critical applications whilst keeping sensitive data within Canadian borders. AINF is a purpose-built networking fabric that dynamically evaluates business policies including latency targets, data sovereignty boundaries and power constraints in real time. The solution integrates with NVIDIA BlueField-3 DPUs to deliver line-rate encryption and works with NVIDIA Spectrum-4 Ethernet switches. Research indicates the technology can deliver over 60% reduction in Time to First Token, 15% improvement in throughput and 40% reduction in end-to-end latency. The solution is available now.
